View Full Version : What ball gets most spin?

I've been using the Pro V1 for about 8 months now and find it to be the best I've used, just wondering if there are any higher spin balls out there? We have VERY firm greens at my course (Byron Bay) and there are many spots where it is a huge advantage to be able to get the ball to stop in a hurry.

If you want maximum spin try a commando (its a speciality pitch and putt ball).

Bridgestone E5+ and Bridgestone Tour 330S.

The calli i tour is the spinnest i have played.

Wilson FG tour.

At the moment, I would have to say for a high spin ball: It's definitely a toss up between Titleist Pro V1 and Bridgestone B330S.

But I've found the Pro V1 to be the most reliable flop and stop ball over the last 10 years.

Hit a full wedge with a Pro V1 into a headwind on a course like Shellharbour Links, and the ball will land at the back edge of the green and spin off the front of the green. :)

another vote for the Bridgestone Tour ball. I stopped using it a couple of weeks ago at Joondalup as it was spinning too much

I've always chosen the ProV1 when I feel I'll need a ball that spins a ton.

I've only played about 9 holes with it, but the Cally i/s spins a hell of a lot too.

I remember Scottt posting up some numbers from some launch monitor testing...here. (http://www.ozgolf.net/showthread.php/16160-2009-balls-by-the-numbers?highlight=)

I can't tell the difference between a titleist and a top flite, so I've got nothing further to add.

Nike one platinum spin quite a bit haven't tried the new nike tour ball.

Yep - Nike platinum... stupidly soft on the current balls.

But the MaxFli HT was like hitting over cooked spaghetti. You could just punch that at pin when the newer wedges came on the market. From 10-15m you could jizz it back.

The nike tours still spin a shitload, but not as much as the plat.

I have been surprised recently by how much difference shafts can make to amount of spin that you can get off a ball. My recently acquired AP2s with Nippon 970s put much more spin on the ball than my Wishons do . On full shots the ball stops on the green almost on the spot it lands, no release at all. I am not used to that on our relatively hard greens.

Where can I get some of those MaxFli HT balls? I'd be keen to give them a try, in addition to the Bridgy and Nike Plat

Agree with that, I actually prefer the Plat to the new Nike tours.
I played a ProV1x for a whole round last Sun, I was very impressed with the spin especially on the short pitch shots.

I found a titleist prestige the other day and that is soft as probably doesn't spin as much as the others mentioned though.

Wilson FG Tour - they would make a Pro V get dizzy watching it.
