I want to put lead tape on my putter head but how much is right amount? If I put too much and make it really heavy can this negatively affect my putting or the putters design? Thanks

Nope...it's all about the feel. Add as much as you need to get it where you want it.
Then PM either Mike or Dotty about more permanent alterations

All your answers are in this thread (esp. if the question was WTF?) ....

Using coins and masking tape is a convenient/cheap way for getting a feel for the different weight increases. (1c are 2.7g, which is 1 swingweight = one strip of adhesive lead-tape.)
I'm currently experimenting with lead-tape in the cavity of the Anser Notchback, to raise COG, deaden the sound and minimse the trampoline effect.
Enjoy.

You don't say...
