Gailes - Single Stableford - White Tees.

I'll aim for a time around 9am, so I can get the kiddies to school first. The timesheet comes out tomorrow, so if there aren't takers to make a full group, I'll use other names to reserve.

---------------

Scores

1. Rusty 38pts
2. AndyP 34pts
3. Tex 31pts
4. Iain 26pts

I've booked a full group for 9:24a. I won't resort to sending spam PMs, but where are all of you midweek golfers?

Hmmmm, I just had a look at the train timetable to see if I can make it earlier. The earliest I can get there is about 8:40a, with a small risk of missing that first train (after school dropoff) and it being 9:10a instead. I better leave the time as is.

Done. I'm sure there is other spots around, if others would like to join us. I'm sure Eag's would be interested in an earlier slot.

All four names are booked.

I haven't played at Gailes for just over 2 years.

Better get your game plan sorted then - the opening par 3 is easy, you could open with a 7i for sure ;)

AndyP

Course plan has already been printed.

Hole 1 - Must not go in bunkers
Hole 2 - Must not go in bunkers
Hole 3 - Must not go in bunkers
Hole 4 - ....

You get the idea.

There are no bunkers at Gailes. They do have bunker-shaped holes filled with a concrete-like substance though.

I think you guys will be impressed with the condition of Gailes (bunkers excluded) at the moment, it is in the best nick I have seen for many years.

That's good to hear, mate. It was disappointing for a while there.

I wonder if they are going to hit us mega members up for full fees.

Thank you all. Enjoying this match play gig just got to learn 'match play' instead of just 'playing' :) Driver and putter let me down, did hit some dodgy chips as well. Could not stick to Andy's game plan and was in too many bunkers. I would like to say my erraticness let me down but Andy had me on the back foot most of the time. A thoroughly enjoyabale defeat.

Yelling at your ball does not make it do anything, apparently.

Thanks for the game, guys. Perfect weather and a course in great condition. Well, maybe not the bunkers, but I guess they are all the same and I can see how you could get used to them.

Rusty was very sneaky with his 38 points, especially since he heeled a drive into the water with his tee shot on the 2nd. It was a shocker! Although, his birdie on 10 was sublime. Perfect tee shot, great approach and sunk the putt (after I told him that he had to finish the hole off).

Iain's seemed to struggle a bit with the putter and produced three beautiful shanks. One of them sped in between Russ and I who were five metres apart. That was a little scary!

There was more evil Tex than good Tex in the end and I played my normal boring golf.

Thanks for giving me the cards to hand in at the end, Rusty, and don't do it again. I forgot to hand them in. Fortunately, they accepted the scores over the phone and everything appears fine.
No handicap changes for any of us.

always good to watch a matchplay firsthand. well done AP. nearly Tex. Tex, Iain and i all had problems with the bunkers. for me, it was all me, i was just psyched out.

course was in great nic. the work they've done on the fairways is amazing. there's a bit of springyness in the grass when you walk down the fairway. greens were in great nic too. still showing a little bit of sand, but that was good as didn't have to do too much grain reading.

the Gailes Pro Shop is closing down at the end of June. behind the counter was not aware of what's happening come 1 July.
