I just upgraded the RAM in my notebook from 2 gig to 4 gig b/c it was shyting me big time due to slowness & hangtime. The difference in speed is very noticeable, which brings me to my question - can the RAM sticks/cards in a computer wear out over time?

Everything has a use by date.... but in my experience, they either work or they don't. There's no in between.

What dan said. Unless the ram you replaced it with was better quality and/or better spec'd.

More RAM could mean less relying on Virtual ram (hard disk files - paging file etc) so increased speed.

Ditto and ditto...

You'll either have a working stick or a buggy one which can sometimes be the cause of the mystery reboot or the dreaded BSOD.

not really but you will permanently damage them if you handle the memory without safely earthing yourself. Static Electricity is a silent killer.
