This is it. Nudgee, Kingslayer & Hux are all locked in. From memory Choppa is locked in on holiday travel as well.

Accomodation is booked:
Hux, Nudgee, Kingslayer, Eags - Lost Farm friday 25th March 2011 2 x twin share rooms. can't remember price but it will be in the confirmation email they send. We can either toss a coin for a single room or if you desparately want a room alone you can pay full tarrif otherwise its the cost of the two rooms divided by 4.

Hux, Nudgee, Kingslayer, Eags - Barnbougle Sat & Sunday 26th/27th 2011. 4 bed bungalow sleeping arrangements. $70 (this is now less) a night each.

Nil accomodation available at Barny on 25th so had to take the more expensive option of 2 rooms at Lost Farm.

In many regards this will work extremely well in that we are staying at accomodation at the course we are playing for each day so no need to travel in the morning.

Choppa and Mrs Choppa accomodation & travel independent.
Peter_rs and Shazza

Golf. Booked for 4 players. Pete & Shaz have separate booking for golf with very close times.

Barnbougle Lost Farm is a 20 holes golf course with 13a and 18a being our additional holes.
Huxley’s 8.20am and 1.20pm
Hickey 8.50am and 1.50pm

We can ask on the day with the proshop to move us closer

Huxley’s 8.40am and 1.20pm
Hickey 8.30am and 1.10pm

Restaurant is booked for Sat & Sun at Barny on the basis that we should be well tired enough after 72 holes to not want to travel anywhere for dining.

We have a dinner good for Friday night if we get in early enough and want to eat there.

We had a hit at tasmania and launceston on thurs and fri. We did 36 sat and 18 Sunday before cruising back to the launceston airport.

36 holes at each Barnbougle course is a must so that you can try the back two sets of tees. There's plenty of daylight in march for it.

with these sorts of numbers you are better off hiring mini vans. Thats what we did and it was much cheaper and also useful to have transport at our fingertips.

Hiring 2 vans for 3 days costs us about 3/4 of what it would have cost for 16 of us to get the return barny bus.

Folks

I have sent an email to BD to ascertain some basics on costs and when we will need to make a commitment by. I think it is important that we understand that accomodation on course is not exactly massive so an early commitment for what looks like 12++ players will be needed.
I have advised them we would be looking at sharing accomodation in 3 to 4 which would cover those that may bring their better 1/2.

Special requests can always be negotiated.

Just so you all know - like most middle managers time is precious so please think before you dik me around - I don't want to have a tanty as it will only be embarassing :-)

There will be no PUNT. Bets will be within groups to keep it personal.

Prizes...sorry not taking any down.

Will it be a Classic/Major...regardless of whether it meets the #'s the trip will be classic and a major p155 up. What would be great is if we got players from each State to attend - it could be the first All States match.

Entertainment - after two days of 36 holes walking you lot will be too knackered for much (personally I will be broken down after the 3rd nine on Sunday). Drinks and conversation on the deck will have to do....its country Tassie afterall.

Okay - no rates etc on Lost Farm course yet...they did not even want to mention whether there would be an all day rate to play on both courses or not. All accomodation appears to be available. Depending on whether you want 3,4 or 5 to a bungalow is $40 to $50 a head per night....subject to change!

The rate for the rexy's bus transfers is mad $36 per person 1 one with min $144 a trip...you might as well hire a car between 2&4 people for the 3 days at @$50 a day!!!

So easy thing is commit to dates and book accomodation and flights before 1 July and then deal with the golf later in the year.

my plan may well be to stay in tassie for a couple of weeks as it gives me a chance to catch up and spend time with my family,

so the plan for me would be to get the spirit o thursday night and drive to barnbugle friday Morning after the ship docks.

My thought is

that myself having a 4wd and has seating for 8 people at a squeeze thats including driver hire an enclosed trailer from say coates hire or where ever for golf gear pick some of you mob up at the luanceston airport and then make our way to the course.

or if we are going to look at hiring cars we might as well look at what it will cost to hire in mini bus instead of hiring 4-5 cars...we will need someone to have at least a medium rigid licence to hire a mini bus i would imagine

just a thought

petethepilot
2nd May 2010, 10:58 AM
Hire Mini Bus from Launceston would be a better deal (or say 3 wagons). Just need someone with appropriate license for minibus who is happy to drive. Bridport has a Pub but the food is very standard Pub grub! More expensive option is eat at BBD but the food is good there and staggering distance from cabins.

we had 4 per cabin on our trip there and that was about right.

Pete

$245 for a 12 seater bus for 25-28 March from with a booking code or @ $40/day for a small/mid car $62 for a full size station wagon.

Depending on how travel pans out for me from Melbourne I will be doing one of the above options :-)

grandmasterb

Collis et al.

Can you please copy the last list of players and add your names with your level of commitment. It's then easier for me to update the header post with the names.

As far as rooms. I would suggest that most folks will want to share a room. You can get up to 5 to a bungalow and it drops it to @ $40 a night so leaves more $$ for drinking.

Another few will be going with wives so they may either wish to take the main room and have another couple in the back room or just have a cabin alone.

AS said earlier - room bookings will probably not be sorted until July/August - and at @ that point I would be expecting people to come up with deposits. However if you are really committed - now is the time to book flights.

Hux
13th May 2010, 09:44 PM
I think it will be Monday or Tuesday. I am ambivalent at this point. If enough folks are saying they are up for a game Monday I will stay another day as all I am doing is flying back to Melbourne and then driving home to Brissy with maybe a game along the way somewhere.

Weird thing is that Virgin do not have flights from Launceston to Melbourne at all from 28 onwards coming up. I am a bees off booking flights now as I want to jump on the cheap flights while they are around. Best for me is Virgin to Launnie and then Qantas back.

BrisVegas

Hux
12th July 2010, 06:24 PM
Good bump.

For those serious about this I would suggest that August is probably the right time to be booking your flights.

I will be definitely flying in to Launceston on the Friday pm/evening from Melbourne and probably flying back to Melbourne on the Monday unless others want to stay on for a Monday game.

Lets get some discussion going folks.

Mix of rounds (this may depend on whether its cost per round/cost per days play at a given course/cost per days play at complex)

Well this is easy apparently. 36 holes each day.
Preferable will be Barny then LF or vice versa on each day.
However once the course opens we will know what sort a deal they are offering on play. It may be one course each day.

fwiw, I've just booked for a couple of days in November. Lost Farm operating as a seperate entity at that time, so a days play at Barnbougle then a days play at Lost Farm is the most cost efficient (assuming you're doing more than 18 holes p day)

I am toying with the idea of playing Barnbougle next March as I will be down there visiting my folks. I would only want to do 18 holes in one day though (crook knees).

I checked out flights today and if I put in a return flight from Perth to Launceston, it says $349 each way. However if I put in Perth to Mel it is $209 and Mel to Launceston is $80. Total $289, much less than the return. Its like what the??? This is with Qantas btw.

Still no details on Lost Farm available.

They appear to be setup as separate entities and LF will be the upper price accomodation/spa etc. Once its open we can get prices etc.

So what we need are confirmed accomodation numbers and the # of nights/arrival times etc so we can coordinate arrivals. Best way will be to do it as per the Ozgolf Champs...find yourself a roomy or three and book and pay a deposit for the room. Same for the golf - hopefully we can get a better rate.

I will be flying into Launie in the late PM on the Friday.

As the course are setup as separate and there is a bit of distance between the idea will be to play one course Sat one Sunday all day.

Update to come on this! People will need to commit with a deposit for accommodation. 12 looks like being the limit with regard to tee times/accom/transport. Planning on arrrive pm hours Fri 25 Mar and depart late afternoon Sunday. Rough calculations seem to point to approx $750 (ex Brisbane) plus drinks/food/bets etc for 2 rounds at Lost Farm and 1 at Barny!

Will get back soon. Ask your Mums/wives/Bank Manager etc as we will need some commitment!

Hux
13th October 2010, 07:06 PM
Thanks for getting this going Pete.

Pete and I were discussing this this afternoon. The only critical thing is the need to get accomodation booked which incurs costs if you bail.

So what will be needed is firm commitment with $$$ upfront so the organisers are not out of pocket. The accomodation is at Bridport, 4 to a villa or the like as no on course accomodation left.

Pete needs to be heading back Sunday so the order of play for him at least is:
arrive Friday PM drive to Bridport
36holes The Lost Farm Saturday
18 holes Barnbougle Sunday.
travel Launceston fly home.

We discussed the 36/36 option, however I think its a fair point that it would be unlikely many would be that keen on 2 lots of 36 holes walking in a row. I know I would be a tad knocked up by then!!! However this is up to the individuals or a smaller group if there are more keen on that.

We will get a discount on golf for a group of 12 of more, however with more than 12 we will run into tee time issues at Barny.

If we get enough people arriving in Launceston at the same time I can get pretty decent rates on a 12 seater bus which will be cheaper than multiple cars.

kingslayer33

Hi Guys,

If we are to have anywhere to stay, I need a guide to commitment by saying whether you are willing to commit $150 towards accommodation (this could be exchangeable with a replacement player). Other costs don't need to be paid until arrival.

The rough plan,

Arrive Friday 26 March @ Launceston by whatever means (Car/Air)
Pickup Hire car and transit to Bridport (Accom at Bridport Resort - Share rooms)
Play golf at Lost Farm (36 holes) on Saturday
Play golf at Barnbougle on Sunday am
Travel to Launceston pm or play golf at Barny if staying Sunday night
Fly home

Golf costs - Lost Farm - $140 including pull cart
Barnbougle - $90 or $140 all day including cart

Accom - Bridport Resort -$285 night per room(4 per room)

Transport - Hire Car probably about $40

Airfare - Book your own fare. Can get for less than $350 return Brisbane at the moment

I need some commitment guys or this will just become a small push (ie 4 people)

Let me know on this forum.

Regards,

Pete

there is a very good chance I will be there on Sunday too. Just trying to finalise details in the next couple of days.

I think I would like to play Barnbougle - mainly because it is the original course and from what I have heard it is better than the Lost Farm

Thanks Pete,

I haven't been able to sort myself to 100% commit to going yet, so rather than hold up arrangements any further I am out. Enjoy Marto and others.

Cheers

So Marto is in.

Have a chat to Shaz and Peter about what they are doing for accomodation. We have 4 in our room(s) which is capacity.

Pete - will you have time to call LF and Barny to lockout your 4th spot in your tee times. We will just swap around amongst ourselves other than that.

Marto when you have booked flights let us know. Kingslayer was giving Nudgee and I a lift up from Barny but with Eag's, Shaz/Pete we will need to look at flight times and hiring a car here or there.

Guys and Lady ...

Do we want a tour cap?

I've got some Onefit Caps (exactly like flexifit stuff) that are Navy with a gold sandwich peak.

With the site owners permission ... I'd put the Oz Golf Logo on it with "Barny Tour 2011" embroidered on the caps.

I could do these for about $10 each (I'll look after the embroidery set-up costs).

Site owner ... is that ok with you?

Tourists ... who wants one?

Marto.

Emaisl from Barny & LF - Accomodation and golf is confirmed for 4 pax accomodation Friday, Sat & Sun nights (Accomodation is Hux, Nudgee, Kingslayer, Eags) and also 4 pax golf Sat & Sun. I also have dinner reservations for all 3 nights although no idea if we will be in for dinner Friday night.
