Thinking about turning to the dark side and getting a set of "players cavity" irons. I've heard a mixed reviews about the AP2 and am seriously looking at the Ping i15 irons.

Has anybody got any experience with these?

Does anybody know when Ping are doing a demo day soon (there website is pretty ordinary)?

Probably not for a while, as the don't have a rep in QLD.

Probably not the worst sales rep job going around either since the product is stable. But geez there would be some time spent on the road. Definitely a job for a single man.

Yeah I hadn't considered the s57s until I looked at the website. Being left-handed getting hold of something to trial is a major pain in the arse. Usually I just take a look at a right handed version and decide if I like the look of it (or even hit the RH version). Given that this would be a bit more of a change that just going from 690mb to 695mb it is imperative that I actually trial these so I can see the difference for myself.

Maybe worth a try.

The 59s are still popular with the Ping tour staff. Slightly more blade-like (lower launch) than the 58s and 57s, but till very forgiving for a club of its type.

I bought I3 Blade's yonks ago (2nd hand @ Drummonds) and I'm going to find it hard changing away from Ping. When I get back into the game 100% I'll be lining up some I15's (or whatever comes next) as a treat. It's hard to admit being a Ping fanboy, but they seem to make some solid equipment without spamming the market with options.

I'll ask Tom Arnott today (think he moved to Ping from TM). The AP2s are top irons for those who hit it out of the centre all the time. For some reason a strike towards the toe results in a flyer. He also knows lots about Titleist equipment & will give you the +s & -s of the AP2.

Why don't you call in and have a chat with Tom, he would love to catch up on RQ news.

But you ditched that ping i/3 2-iron and were flushing that 695mb 2-iron. Let me remind you of this particular post (http://www.ozgolf.net/showthread.php/16149-Good-looking-hybrids?p=389653&viewfull=1#post389653).

You see what happens, you go and put one hybrid in the bag and it spreads like swine flu. You sir, have caught the gay.

The last time I hit the 695mb I hit a sherman at Oxley. The poxy hybrid is back in for now, although I haven't actually hit it in my last 2 rounds. A pooncy 5 wood might get a start yet.

Sure, they're no 'players iron' but they're so easy to hit straight you'll wonder why you ever wanted to work the ball before...

A bloke I played with recently had a set, not a mark on them. Not sure how they would go as a back scratcher but they look really good behind a golf ball. These are the irons Freddy Couples played with in the late 1980's when he was with Lynx Golf. They look much better over the ball than their BeCu cousins from Ping.

I think I am pretty much sold on turning to the dark side. Loved the i15 fairway wood and hybrid (both with the TFC 700x). Will grab a couple of Tour W wedges for certain. Biggest decision will be whether to go with S57 or i15 for 3-w. i15 is leading at the moment but I'll have a think about it before committing either way.

And had a hit of the i15 driver for shits and giggles and that went frikkin' miles too.

Those Nippons are great shafts. Had a hit with a 6-iron fitted with the NS Pro 850 shaft (85 gm) yesterday. Very impressed, no wonder they are the most favourite steel shaft on the LPGA tour. Would like to hit the 950 shaft to get a comparison. These shafts only cost $22.00 each.

They are the best shafts I have ever played and the only ones that allowed me to play any golf when I wrecked my elbow.

I bought my GC Mids because of the shafts and whenever I consider more forgiving irons it is just too difficult to find anything with the real Nippons apart from Mizuno.
