Removing lead tape from clubs?

If i wanted to remove some lead tape from a putter i just bought, what woulkd be the best way to do that?

does it need to be heated?

Will it leave residue?

It looks like normal lead tape, and is underneath the putter on the sole, closest to the face.

Peel it off with your thumb nail and Tea Tree Oil will remove any residue.

Or Shellite, Petrol or Acetone if it is particularly difficult (be careful of paintfill if you use acetone)
