I am the most inflexible (is the correct prefix "in"?) out there. I cannot get anywhere near touching my toes (actually about 20-30cm from it), and I'm just wondering if anyone on here has any tips or excercises to build my flexibilty up.

Any help appreciated. :)

Seriously, do you stretch before and after a game and for how long? Do you stretch every day? What stretches do you do?

A quick google brought these up from Sharkies website --> http://shark.com/sharkwatch/fitness/fitness14.php
Some good stretches in there, many of them I do myself..

Well there is your problem dude.. When on tour I stretched for about 45 mins before I did anything (these days its probably about 20 mins), you will find most tour players do about the same or even more. Besides Carlos Franco ;)

Pm, i am about the same, couldnt even get close to me toes. Have been doing Pilates once a week for 2 years now, and I can just get there if i get a little push!. The pilates teacher says that i am extra flexible in some parts, but bloody hopeless in the others, particularily the hamstrings.

Any kind of exercise program like Pilates would benefit. I just dont recommend the bitch that does us, I think she is one of those S&M people in her spare time.

Pup,

I have always suffered from poor flexibility, even as a youngster I had issues and still can't touch my toes.

Now I'm a built older and my body is really letting me down, I started pilates (just a DVD) about 12 months ago. I've had almost no back problems since and am notcing a gradual improvement in flexibility.

I've suffered from serious back ailments for close to 15 years prior to commencing pilates, so can't say enough good things about it.

Kit Laughlin's book "Stretching & Flexibility" is worth owning.

Hahahaha.

I might try some Pilates stuff by myself, what does it involve exactly?

Like everyone else has said stretches are the go. I currently can only go 4cm past my toes, I used to be almost up to my wrists. I guess I am getting less flexible with age.

Pup,

If you're a spaz like me, don't get too into the pilates programs out there, they are all too hard.

Just go to your local HMV or equivalent and buy Pilates for Dummies. I tried heaps of other pilates DVD's before, and could do about 1 exercise off each of them, but the dummies one is perfect.

lots of lots of pain if you are doing it right. We have an instructor, tried it a couple of times using a video when she took a break and we were all hopeless, you cant get it right and you dont push yourself. Its not the same as doing a few situps.

Take up a contract position in a large corporation about to undergo a reorganisation.

You need to be flexible to bend over and kiss your ass goodbye.
