Who woulda thunk i'd start one of these... First of all, Happy Easter to all. I've had a great weekend up in Casino.

Played Single Stab. today and had 34 points (16/18 ). Consistent?

Front 9 - 1 pointers on 2nd and 4th holes, and 2 pointers all the way to the 11th (frickin' easy short par 4 - index 17) which i wiped after spraying my tee shot OOB.

Followed that with my first par on 12 (), and lost that with a double on 13. Birdied 14..... missed pretty easy par putt on 16... you get the drift. Scratched around for 34 points - but should be good enough for a ball. Other scores in the clubhouse included numerous sub-30's.

Also played Kyogle Saturday for 31 ordinary pts, but more important lost 40c to JD ('loaned' would be the correct term - i'll get him next time).

And finally - found out that my 39 points on Good Friday placed me THIRD in the comp! The course at Casino is in unreal nick, the rough a little long to punish wayward shots.

A very frustrating 33 points yesterday - hitting everything generally OK but anything slightly mishit or offline was punished severely :? . No more golf until next Monday as my roster sucks at the moment

Played Redland Bay this morning with a mate from work. Started off pretty poorly, with a wipe on the 2nd, 4 points after 4 holes, but then had 3, 2, 3, 3, 3 to finish the front with 18points.

Played some solid golf on the back with a 41 off the stick for 21 points, including birdie on the last. 8) Drove the ball quite well on the back, just got to improve my starts.

So I had 39points for the day and should take me down to 14.

Nice shootin again old man. Although a look at your golflink suggests while you own Logan, you're looking like a one course team.
"mental note....if I meet kev in the matchplay...do not play logan..think Windaroo"

don't think about it too much 69'er, you might hurt yourself :P

If you have to play Kev in the matchplay ... just forfeit

Jarro
30th March 2005, 02:51 PM
We'll let him get to 4 at Logan then head to a real course with bunkers and par 5's over 400m.
He'll be buggered.

hehe..... i like your style

Playing Gailes tomorrow, see how we go :D playing with the cop's and playing off 10  :D

One of those logan one's was actually Nudgee, they stuffed it up and Logan had to fix it :?

I don't think I play you in the first round  so theres no chance of meeting you anywhere after that :D

Played 3 rounds over the long weekend:
Friday - social round at my home club with some fellow members playing for cash. Couldn't hit a thing. Would have had about 90 & lost all my money.
Saturday - comp round at Cairns with almost the same group. Scraped in 36 points with a wipe on each side. Lost all the money again to the same punters.
Monday - Dad shouted me a round at Paradise Palms. I started terribly, with the same inconsistent ball-striking as the last 2 rounds. The first 9 was a disaster, as the course is extremely punishing on errant shots. But then, after 7 holes, I solved the ball-striking issue and played the remaining 11 holes in 4 over. I hit 2 of the par 5's in 2 and was generally bombing the driver. I would have been even better off if I could figure out the grain on the damn greens as I missed 2 very makeable birdie putts.

The long & short of it is that I had a tragic couple of rounds but finished well and got my confidence back in time for the Monthly Medal this weekend. Could it be No. 3?

Played Riverlakes wed morn as a warm up to the pro am on sat.

Had a 86(net 61) even had a 8 and two 7's. I found my driver 10 fairways, 5 gir, 32 putts. The greens had been cut but were very slow compared to my last four rounds at the ridge over easter where my best was 103(net 78). It helps that river lakes was set up about 1500m shorter. Hopefully I can repeat this in the pro am and bring done my hcp.

Shazza had a net 73 first time on the course.

peter_rs

Thanks AndyP- but true :( could be the fact- tight long course with big trees and quick greens.

River lakes was setup easy(forward tees/slow greens) par 5 play 400m and 2xpar 4 at 250m. Wait till sat in the pro-am of the back tees and quick greens.

Trust me I wish I could say I was off lower but Its rare to put 18 good holes together. Kezza will back me up when it goes bad it goes very bad- Look at my golf link.

Jarro I will let u know on the day-keep u guessing. The longer u leave it the more shots I could lose of my hcp anyway.

Well done to Iain, Onewood & Pete and all you others that have showed good form this week. :D

Pennant today - we played The National Team at Sorrento Golf Course - great course. The team drew.

After my handicap reduction over the weekend I was promoted to number 2 in the team and had to play a girl off 15 - gulp - 5 better than me. AND I WON!!!!!!! 3 up with 2 to go. Played very solid - drove well and am loving my 3 wood at the moment. Still not putting well - missed a few short ones. I'm not choking on them - it's just my alignment sucks!!!!!!!!

I'm the most popular women in our club at the moment cos the old number 2 player in our team is so up herself and a real bitch - everyone was so happy to see her demoted. You should have seen the look on her face when she found out she's now number 3. ( and she lost today - yet again). Bad for the team I know but she is just so obnoxious.

The problem I foresee for you will be playing those last few holes. You've only been to the 18th green once now haven't you? Beware of mentally finishing your round on the 15th or 16th and then blowing up on the last couple of holes.

I know what you are saying Bruce........but yesterday I had won - hadn't realised it - took out my diver ready to tee up again - and my caddy is standing there with her arms crossed laughing at me. I really only play each hole as it comes. If I think too much I know I'll come undone.
Thanks for the advice though

but I was really happy with the way I was hitting my irons...

I'm a little annoyed, coz I let someone use my driver last night at the range for a few balls...and when I had a look at it at home, there was a scratch mark on the face, and a huge stone-scuff mark on the face/sole corner...

coulda been worse, last year i gave a bloke a fairly generous putt for a half, like about 6 feet, and went to shake his hand becuase I had won 3/2 - but I hadnt. I had miscounted ffrom about the 2nd hole. still won though. I have done it in reverse as well, thinking I have lost, in the end won that match too.
Some people write down their scores in matchplay on a scorecard, which i always thought was silly. As alzheimers is obviously setting in it might not be a bad idea.

Played Macarthur Grange today, had 36 points 94 gross 71 nett could have been better.

One hole summed up my luck today, on 17 I hit a good shot but 1 club short and plugged somewhere in front of the green. Could not find it so back to the tee for a reload. Was pissed off so the swing was not that great and ended up short again, bad chip Then 2 bad putts for a 7 where as if I had found the 1st it could have been way different.

Oh well I will be back next week to try again,

Did you see it plug? if there is adequate evidence that it did plug you got a free drop there matey, as long as it wasnt in the rough.

yeah it was a par 3 and none of us were certain it plugged in the fairway area around the green or in the rough. So I had to go back. Worst part was knowing someone wil lwalk over it a go "how did they lose this?"

More information please. I must assume you weren't going well at the time, otherwise you would have made the Longest Walk In Golf

My game is one where the less information the better. 85 for net 78 in the medal with pins in their hardest spots. Played better than that, but not by much.

6 over after 5, after hitting three of the first five GIR, and three putting all of them

feeling pretty good when I teed off this arvo...
still level the card after a bogey(2)/bird(5) trade off, but careless bogey on the 7...and a donald OOB on the 7th resulting in a triple, and then a 3-jack bogey on the 9th to make it +5 for the nine...

stiffed a 7 iron into the 10th, missed the 3-4footer birdie...made par all the way to the 15th, donalded another, and put the 2nd shot from the rough into the smallest pond of the course...double...and 3-jacked bogey on the 18th to rub the salt in...

but...not too bad a day overall...hitting the irons well, and apart from 4 t shots...it was all good... :D

Played the river lakes pro-am on sat

A few well known pros where there nick flannagan, steven bowditch.

our pro was Rowan Beste

It was a single stab

Scoot_G had net 77 (a grade stroke).
Kezza_G had 23 pts (lack of sleep affected)
Peter_rs had 24 pts
Sharron had 35pts (22 on the front nine) second out of all ladies (no divs)
maxfli cart & umbrella (thanks kezza) down to her last ball.

It was a great day out, even our pro was cool making jokes. he had rounds of 69 & 73 =142 just out of the money

I guess I live up to my role of not playing well in comps.

41 off the whites at Bayview this morning. :P

Whereas on Monday (at Carnarvon) I think I hit 2 fairways, today I missed only 2 fairways. Makes a big difference when you have a shot into the green. Didn't sink any long putts and had two 3 putts ... :?

However, I am very happy considering how badly I played only 6 days ago. I was so depressed after that game, I said to myself I'll never buy clubs again ... Now I'm back in full "Ho mode" ... R7 TP, here I come ...

Captain's Trophy Comp this morning, shotgun start...

Jean had a blinder...shot a 97/63...to win the ladies section...
I was 1 over after 7 holes (started off the 7th)...then I went on a double/bogey/bogey/double/bogey run...OUCH!!!

parred 18th, bogeyed 1 (that one hurt)...
then played the next 4 holes in 3under...parred the 6 to come back with a 76....so will take it!!! :D

lost out on the Gross to a 74...but it's a turnaround...I beat him 70-72 last year, so it's 74-76 this year...

Played the open comp at Gordon yesterday (Sunday). Single and Agg stableford.

As pinglauncher commented, the wind made it tough - hot and dry. We were the last group of the day, consisting of 2 guests (myself and the grumpy American) and 2 guys going for the handicap cards - so it was a slow round. A hot one too.

Had 31 points (17/14) - which was quite annoying, but i nearly fell over when I saw the leaderboard in the clubhouse - the comp was won with 35 points!!. Grumpy had 24 points for a pitiful 2-ball score of 55.

It was Major Pennants in the morning and the greens were rock hard - you couldn't stop a wedge from 80-100 metres on them, it was like hitting concrete. 4 shots instantly popped into my head when i saw the leaderboard (2 lipouts? Plus a couple of 3-jerks?).

The grumpy American was kinda mild-mannered, mid-late 50's. Every 2nd shot was followed by a call of "For crying out loud...." or "you cannot be serious...." or..... you get the drift.

I hit the ball well enough most of the day, but on a couple of holes just put myself into too much trouble to bailout - obstructed by trees etc - stupid really. I targeted the 5th hole (par 5) to score on - i usually wipe it or score poorly. So 3-wood off the tee - narrow 1st shot. Pulled straight into the trees/creek. I didn't hear tree contact so went searching - found it missed everything and was next to a neighbouring green. Played 2nd shot up the next fairway, made par, then successfully wiped the following 2 holes

First time i've seen this before. Just checked GolfLink;

Par: 65
ACR: 64
CCR (for this day): 67
