Oh I agree. Not to mention Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akt3awj_Ah8).

However, one of my all time favourites is Cemetary Gates by Pantera:

Sunshine of my love would be Cream. Hendrix would have to be Voodoo Chile or Little Wing.

One of my favourites is Tumeni Notes by Steve Morse. As well as any Rolling Stones intro with Keith Richard kicking them off.

Great thread, some very good calls.

I'd have to say Axis: Bold as Love is one of the best albums of all time, Hendrix is just sublime.

YDb2ZC99WQA

Led Zep I through IV are pretty damn special too. Page was the master of the riff.

OKI1k7LSAIE

SRV, how do you choose one song?

One of the best albums of the 90s, before he went crazy. The title track as well as this track were awesome riffs:

NsDTmvHLJao&feature=fvst

Can't go past early Harper

8f-D7Xx89r4

Let's not forget the great Radiohead, my current ringtone. Rumour is they just recorded a new CD. Fingers crossed.

GoLJJRIWCLU

I agree with LL, why limit it to rock?

I can't find the Luther College version of this, so it will have to do. The Luther College version is insane.

I always feel happy when I hear this song.

A solid modern blues riff, PeteyD I'll find a solo or two for you.

It doesn't have to be rock at all! It's about the guitar riff, not the song as such.

IMHO the best (not necessarily my favourite) riffs are those that appeal to the masses & are recognisable at the drop of a hat... Satisfaction, Wild Thing, Iron Man, Sweet Child O Mine etc.

There's a heap of good riffs up already & here are a couple more to consider - I put Tommy's clip of Day Tripper & Lady Madonna because I thought it would be more interesting than straight out Day Tripper by the Beatles.

The Cure and The Smiths? Great bands, but unfortunately, they turned this thread gay.

Click the Youtube icon, and name the video at the 1st prompt. The place the part of the youtube address after the = between the ][ brackets.

Easy......

I am not a big Reynolds fan, I just love the Luther College album. Tim Reylonds is talented, but a bit of a douche, and yes his tone is poo.

Mike, this is the address of your link:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UV5M8zSJa4

You want to copy the bit in red above after the equals sign.

Now, click the YouTube icon, and name the video with the first prompt. Eg Franz Ferdinand.

You will then see ][ with some writing either side. Paste the red bit from above between the 2 brackets.
