By tapping into the psychology of hitting each shot and the visualization and calming effect at address, the Z-STAR™ and Z-STAR™ X Tour Yellow golf balls incorporate the science of visual perception with the psychology of color effect on the human brain. Science has proven that yellow is the most visible color in the visual spectrum and psychology has correlated green with calming and stress relief; therefore Srixon® has combined the two colors based on these findings to tap into the player’s mind and expand the benefits of playing a better ball.

Ummmm Ok.

Q. You must have made some comments about the ball this week from the other players, any comments from the crowd today?

TIM CLARK: A lot of the players haven't seen it, obviously. I just tried to yesterday for the first time. I played nine holes and it seemed all right, so I figured I'd use it, give it a try.

I was a bit worried that you couldn't start with a yellow ball and change back to a white one even though it's the same golf ball. I guess once you start with it you -- I took a bit of a chance and I'm pretty used to it, yeah. It didn't make a difference really for me.

A few people said something out there, but obviously they had about three or four beers in them, so you can expect that.

Q. Nothing funny?

TIM CLARK: Not funny, no (laughter), I didn't find it funny.

MARK WILLIAMS: This is the first week you've used the yellow ball?

TIM CLARK: Second day.

Q. I guess two questions, number one: What's the thing behind the yellow ball?

TIM CLARK: It's just a color. I don't hit it far enough not to see a white one, but some guys it might help them.

Q. So it's not to pick it up in case you go into the desert?

TIM CLARK: No, no. It's interesting, though, you really do see the ball a lot better. A few shots today on the par-3s I was battling to see where Vijay's ball had ended up, especially when the greens have a little bit of a shine to them, which these ones do. So you can definitely pick it up from further away and definitely track it easier in the air.

If not for my benefit, I guess it's for the benefit of the spectators. I don't know how it comes out on TV. I'm not sure if you can tell a difference. But it may.

I think everyone has missed the point, the idea is to Tour validate the colour or
colours so that the player types that do need help in the vision area are going to be
more inclined to use a coloured ball and not feel like they are so out of place.

We need to keep players in the game as long as possible because Golf Australia
and the PGA are not winning the battle to get new players into our game. Fewer
golfers mean more problems for the industry means a more expensive game.

Coloured ball sales in Asia and maybe Europe/Canada will really fly as the colour
either helps or in Asia they want hi-tech game improvement ideas.

Having said that here in Australia we tend to be the last adopters of significant
changes to equipment and fashion styles in the golf.

Don't laugh but because Tim only started playing/testing the ball this week
he hasn't had time to think about the colour of the circles. If he was to stick
with the Yellow ball for a decent amount of time I think he would change them to
Yellow.

This has been rolled out in such a haphazard manner that Srixon and the players
have not really thought through all the issues and opputunity's.

Even the story isn't exactly scripted yet, but that is good because the answers
are very genuine.

Foxsports spoke to me three years ago about getting the UV on Tour by the time
HD was in use because they believe it would be better on TV.

Last year we had a number of Korean Lady Pro's at the Masters in Qld ask
about playing the UV for us but as you all know I need to make it more Tour
ball like to really be a true option. The X3UV is close but no cigars yet.

The whole point of the 2 ball was a visual aid to simulate the ball. It makes sense that the circles should be the same colour.

Of course, he may need to start wearing welding goggles while putting though.

Good point. With every person that speaks negatively, another 10 people have their curiosity aroused.

With every Clark victory, the marketing execs at Srixon are laughing. The exposure that they'll get if he makes the semis or the finals will be more than they could ever have dreamed of.

Being a 4 'capper, um guessing that you've copped talk here and there about it. It seems that low 'cappers are bigger sledgers. I copped a guy telling me I have to buy everyone a beer because I was caught using a coloured ball.

UVX3 - and it will be doing the rounds of open Pennant for the next 6 weeks. To date i have never seen a golfer use a yellow ball in that event.

When i play my old club this weekend it will be interesting, cos they all have big mouths, and the most common comment is "you cant use a ball like that" which is technically a breach of the giving advice rule, so am well prepared for the reply.

Technically, I don't think it is a breach. "Advice" is any counsel or suggestion that could influence a player in determining his play, the choice of a club or the method of making a stroke.

Make sure you tell them that they're going to be remembered as the guy that got beat by a guy using a yellow pill.

However, I'm sure I'll run into the same dickheads when I break out my yellow Srixons. I hope they make a yellow Cally in the future.

Hi Iain, no problems at my end as I am happy to see the majors promote
the concept on my behalf, as it will inturn open more retail doors for me
than has been the case to date. I do wish it was later in the year though,
as that is when I expect to finalise my Tour Hybrid ball project.

We are looking to use Australian Nano Technology to both improve the type
of colours we will produce but also improve on the durability and softness.

The interest from overseas has been very good on the back of what has
been happening in Japan and Korea before this. Cheers, Boz.

When I was up in Japan last October, all the golf shops I visited had at last 25% of their ball floor stock allocated to coloured balls. Lots of colours, not just yellow.
