I am planning to increase the bend of a putter shaft. I have done it before but haven't been happy with the result - left a scortch mark and ended up with a hint of a stretch mark on the outside wall. A couple of questions for the experts.

should I use a tube bender
will a heat gun generate enough heat or is propane a better option
should I fill the shaft with sand before bending
any tips I should know.

watched my clubmaker do it the other day, and he just bent it (in a putter shaft bending machine)

so my tip is, use a putter shaft bending machine

In order

Yes
No - Tensile steel does not respond to heat well, especially for manipulation.
No
You need a putter bender - find a club fitter with one, or bend the hosel on the putter instead.

Thanks virge. The putter doesn't have a neck, just a post.

Trying to change lie or loft Raz? Just interested in what is the aim of the change?. Have been doing a bit of reading on putter set ups for different types of greens.

Can't bend the post ?
I can, it is copper which is removeable but I would prefer not to.

Just grab a towell and rub the shaft like buggery. When it is warm, manipulate the shaft over your knee. Works fine.
