I have emailed them for an entry form so will have all details when they reply.
Cost is usually around $20 or $25 for these.
I prefer to play in the morning.

so far it is
1. Me
2. Tony V (from Hartfield)
3. Adlo (pencil)
4. ?

I want another shot at this course after having to play the Lakelands Open injured a few years back due to an incident that involved a golf cart and a deep bunker at Kennedy the day before.

I would skip my Sat comp and play Sunday, but it's our medal of medal champs, so I'll have to pass.

I won't miss that stupid par 4 with the little pond just in front of the green.

Worst hole in Perth.

That is one you wouldn't want to miss.

I won't miss that stupid par 4 with the little pond just in front of the green.

That hole just seems so artificial. It certainly does add a new dimension though.
I watched the pennant relegation final out there and one of the players took the pond completely out of play by snap hooking his tee shot and playing his second from the far side of the fairway one hole over. I'm sure it wasn't planned.

That is not a bad strategy at all. The first time I played it, I hit a very good drive and left myself half a wedge in to a front pin. I didn't factor in that the fairway would be nice and wet and watched my second take a nice swim.

This should be a fun day out.

Perhaps Yoss might join in, to avoid getting slapped by Zigwah's handjoy.

Yoss has just said he wants to be in as well. We might get 2 groups going?

Edit:  @ Just. Why do you lurk in all the WA threads? You wish you were one of us, don't you?

Yep, sounds like a good idea. There are probably a couple of others from hartfield that want in so I might organise for them as well.

Can you blame Just for wishing he was a sandgroper?

No. We held an OzGolf day in his honour last year at Joondalup when he was over in March. But he had lessons from the iseekguru the day before and played like shit.

I thought he hadn't forgiven us, but I think he might be starting to see the light.

OK, so the OzGolf group will begin now.

Guru has that effect. When Blade was here for the state series I gave him a lift to visit guru and after he gave him some tips and had him hit about 50 drivers into the net Blade went out the following day and had his worst round in months.

I'll edit the first post to reflect a separate Ozgolf only group as requested.

I am tempted to move by that superior coffee experience available in WA. Let us never mention the Guru again.

idgolfguy
20th January 2010, 04:17 PM
TGM is like that - all of it or not at all. Seeing once in a blue moon is not enough as it is information overload. Incorporating one or two imperatives just stuffs up everthing else.

I am TGM and it generally works for me. Just need a puttting coach.

We will all benefit from this suggestion.

I just got an email back from Lakelands.
The WAGA site had it wrong. The summer cup is on the 7th of February, not 31st of January.

Is there a way that I can edit the title of the thread?

Yossarian
20th January 2010, 04:26 PM
Edit the first post veefore, and click "Go Advanced". That will allow the title to be changed.

Add Nuffie to the list for the 7th. I'm still good for that date.

Johnny Canuck
20th January 2010, 04:45 PM
Nuffie was playing on the 6th at Kennedy, will he be able to play both days?

I would consider the 7th, but I would have to miss the 6th. Hmmmmm.

Just spoke to Nuffie as he was thinking the same. I can probably do. However, the preference would have to be the Summer Cup for me. I could catch a KB round another time.

COUNT ME IN....

I'm in (I think) for the 6th at KB as well at this point, but wouldn't have played A COMP ROUND since Jan 10 so I'm due for a game or two.

Glad it's not the 31 Jan...will be VERY hungover that day!!!

I don't have details of everyone to be able to send in an entry form for this. I also may need to withdraw anyway due to club commitments.

Adlo, did you want to handle the Ozgolf group and I'll do the Harty group (if it goes ahead) separately?
I can email you the entry form.
Entries close sunday 31st of January so we need to act quick.

Yoss, :smt098

iTree was saying yesterday that Nuff Nuff wouldn't likely be able to play KB on Sat & Lakelands Sun...

...if he pulls out, I'll take his spot. If he decides he WILL play, then I'll just pull out instead (could use the family 'Brownie Points' anyway). Especially because it's a Sat/Sun golf weekend the next week at KB - and on my wife's birthday and Valentine's Day !!!

Quote from the entry form:

Entries closing date Sunday 31st Jan, with full payment on official entry form.

ie Form needs to be faxed or dropped in. I know I am not going to be able to do this.

Good day out. Lakelands is better than I give it credit for.

I had 6 points through the first 6  So knackered from the previous 2 days.

Finished much better with 25 points through the final 12. Yoss prob would have beaten me, although I had quite a few wipes and 1 pointers so I would have won a few holes with 3 & 4 pointers. Who knows? When we do play the match, I will make sure I have had my beauty sleep.

Yossarian
7th February 2010, 11:31 PM
Yeah a couple on the front nine were tucked behind bunkers, overall I thought the course set up pretty easy, couple of hole I shouldn't have hit driver on. There is plenty of width there just a few spots you need to avoid.

Easier said than done though ;)

The greens were quite nice.

Cosmopolite
7th February 2010, 11:39 PM
I can think of plenty of spots to avoid!

Veefore
8th February 2010, 10:21 AM
How was the pace of play?

One of the biggest criticism's of these open days is that play grinds to a molasses like pace.
This has often caused a drop of in the numbers who enter.

Hartfield are really concerned about a 5 hour round this week and have decided to have spotters on the 1st and 10th fairways and to put the first 6 holes on each side in easy places to get the field through as fast as possible.

bergsey
8th February 2010, 10:38 AM
It was pretty slow in the arvo, we were waiting on most holes, got around in about 4hrs 40min

idgolfguy
8th February 2010, 12:05 PM
Conditioning was great. Hated the bunkers, spent more shots than I should have. More to do with my ability than typs of bunkers.
Green were true but slow.

Yossarian
8th February 2010, 03:03 PM
I thought the pace of play was good, we held the field up a little but managed to catch up pretty quickly. I think we got around in just over 4 hours?

adlo
8th February 2010, 03:16 PM
We were around in 4:20.

We were half a hole behind the group in front, but the group behind us ended up about the same behind us by the 18th.

bergsey
8th February 2010, 03:28 PM
Conditioning was great. Hated the bunkers, spent more shots than I should have. More to do with my ability than typs of bunkers.
Green were true but slow.

Found the greens were a bit two paced so struggled with distance control a bit.

Also got a lot of nasty lies in the rough just on the edge of the green - they had grown the grass pretty thick and ended up with quite a few nestled down and in a divot, mud/bare patch surrounded by grass

TourFit
8th February 2010, 05:48 PM
Know exactly what you mean Bergsey...I got caught around the greens several times. Twice up against the high thick collar of rough, twice in the REALLY thick lush stuff (wasn't expecting that at Lakelands!!) and once on a bare patch with rough in front and rough right behind the ball.
