Today I played nine holes with one of the Directors of this advertising company which is planning to begin their campaign (business) next month in Queensland. The website which is presently under construction will out line the full details of the concept which is totally golf club oriented. I won't begin to explain what is involved except to say that it is worth checking out.

doesnt say enough.

Sounds like they are going to commercialise interclub events. Good on em, and good luck. There have been so many startups trying to make money out of golf, and barely any have been successful, except Ozgolf

Heard a bit more about this last night. The concept is supposed to
- increase club membership/participation
- return revenue to the club
- cost members $1 a round to participate

It seems like it gives an opportunity for major sponsors to reach into every club that participates, rather than each club seeking its own sponsors.

And that only 'invited' clubs get to participate, and the launch is next month. Anyone here going?

Nothing to do with the aesthetics of Wayne Grady's face, I presume.

It is an eclectic competition. The best individual eclectic scores at each participating club (men's, ladies & juniors?) playoff against each other, within their districts with their club pro (one group per club). The district winners play off to decide a regional zone winner, who contest to decide a State winner. The prizes are pretty good from memory.

I read about this new comp in the paper the other day and caught a small bit about it on the radio....when does it kick/tee off?

got this from our newsletter today,

The new president, the club professional and captain attended a seminar in
Brisbane, conducted by My Perfect Round (MPR). The basic concept is that MPR will sell advertising
on a rolling monitor to be displayed in our club. The club will receive 50% of the revenue raised and
MPR receive the other 50%. Our share of the revenue is to be used in three ways – 20% for club use,
20% to be used to offset annual subscriptions and the remaining 10% to the club professional, who will administer MPR.
The conservative estimate to the club is $10,000 a month. MPR will also conduct
an eclectic competition run over 26 weeks. There will be trophies for A, B, C and women and lots of
NTP’s, long drives and giveaways during the 26 weeks, all supplied by MPR. If our team can get
through to the finals held at royal pines there is a chance to win $50,000 for our club. I will give you
more details in the following weeks. The cost will be $1.00 per member per week. A condition of our
club being part of this venture is that we must pay for every registered member of our club. Therefore
when you are asked for the extra dollar you will know what it is for. The commencement is some
months away and I will pass on to you more info as it becomes available. At the moment it just
requires our club to agree to participate. I think it would be remiss of us if we did not sign up.

Sounds pretty good doesn't it! My club seems positive about it as well. The administration won't know what to do with the money!

So...if it actually gets off the ground...My Perfect Round gets 50% of $10,000 per month from advertising revenue PLUS $1 per member per week? And all the members get in return is a monitor advertising stuff and a 26 week comp?

If they are making $5,000 per month out of the club they can fund the competition themselves rather than stinging our club for an additional $500 per week on top of the advertising revenue (we might have even more than 500 playing members, not sure).
