What attracts you to an event?

As the title says, what is it that attracts you to enter an event?
Obviously, for a lot of people it is the course. But what else would make you want to play a tournament and make it a permanent fixture on your calendar each year?
Freebies when you enter? (tees, ball markers other shit like that)
Good prizes? (eg. less winners but better prizes for those that do)
Free BBQ lunch?
Maybe the little "Pro type" extras like painted spots on the fairway for distances and pin sheets like the PGA Tour has?

the higher up the ladder the event is the more challenging it is to perform in it.

I'd rather finish top half of the field in the Qld Amateur than win a monthly medal and if it wasnt for a bloody 9 on the last, I would have :smt013

Playing a decent course is a big draw.

Free stuff? Not so much, rarely use crappy golf freebies anyway.

Just professionalism. A golf tournament is just that. It isn't a social occassion.

Pin sheets.
Decent prizes.
Spotters (if the type of course dictates they should be used).
Starters.
Course in prime condition.

Basically, everything just needs to be done properly and no corners cut.
