View Full Version : What's your favourite golf glove & why?

I've been scouring the interweb looking for an alternative glove to my old favourite (Mizuno Tec-Flex) which has been discontinued. I preferred the Tec-Flex because they had a couple of patches of hard-wearing fabric on the thumb and heel of the palm, which is where I seem to be hardest on my gloves.

I'm looking for a (leather) glove that has a bit of durability and can also handle a bit of moisture (rain/ sweat). Ideas?

Courty, have you tried the Kakadu roo skin gloves ?

They hold up well durability wise and can handle wet weather no wuckers.

Come to think of it, i need to get a few more of them myself

No I haven't. I have heard of them before but had forgotten about them, to be honest. Where do you get them from?

Titleist Permasoft. I used the Players gloves for a while (bought in bulk, sent me Players rather than Permasoft) which were great but are not durable enough and cost a bomb. Permasoft fit well, not that costly when you get them in bulk and last for ages.

+1 on permasoft.

TM Stratus.....full perforated cabretta leather so very nice for feel.
Who gives a cr@p how long they last their so cheap on ebay (under $10 a glove delivered)....but I've found them as durable as the next TM leather glove.

Haven't tried them in the wet yet.

I haven't used a proper full leather glove for a while...generally I use Callaway Warbirds, which I get in twin packs for $24 a pack when Rebel Sport have their 20% off sales for NRMA/RACQ/RACV/whoever members. I've found them to be quite durable, and a nice amount of Lycra around the fingers to give a snug comfortable fit.

I like the Kangaroo Leather ones as well. Excellent durability & feel when wet.

Started with one from the Tannery near the Ettamogah Pub near the Sunshine Coast & it lasted for ages. http://www.packerleather.com/sports-glove-leather.html
After that I bought a Kakadu one & it lasted for ages as well but they're getting harder to find in retail shops. Balked at buying online & paying postage so I bought a $22 Brosnan one that is Kangaroo leather in the palm & synthetic on the back & it's fine so far.

I've been using the tec-flex for a couple of weeks now and its an awesome glove.

Try the nike tour gloves, apparently they're pretty good also. I put one on and its quite nice, all cabretta leather etc.

It's not listed anywhere online, from the major online retailers to Mizuno's very own site.
Can I get them through you?

Another vote here for Kakadu gloves. Comfy, grippy and last a long time. You can get them wet and they don't end up all shrivelled when they dry.
Have used them for a couple of years now and they won't be discontinued until kangaroos are extinct.

Nah the Nike's are no better than the TM R7/R9 tour glove IMHO. Although that said they aren't bad gloves and are the best when you get them on an Ebay deal somewhere.

Any stretching on the Kakadu? I'm like MTB mentioned in the Vision thread; always running out of Velcro.

Where's the cheapest place to buy them?

You buy them on the tight side. They soon stretch and end up fitting like a glove.

I found the TecFlex to be comfy, but both gloves that I had wore through in the thumbs very quickly.

I have had mixed results with Kakadu.

The black one was shit and I wore through it pretty quickly. The white one I have has lasted forever.

The black also fit a little smaller, which sucked.

The free socks I got when ordering were great. Just be warned, they say they'll send you the size to match your gloves. I had to email them and tell them to send a pair for 13 feet.

I like the aus version of the footjoy weathersof.

Leather on palm and thumb, good fit, breaths well....

I tear through gloves quickly regardless of brand, and have just moved to using 2, and switching them each hole to help dry a little better.....

I have used plenty of the TecFlex as well, but each time the thumb wears out and yet the rest of the glove lasts for ages.

permasoft for me. used to do footjoy, but would discolour from moisture and lose its softness. the permasoft looks brand new still after a couple of rounds, which for me, was un heard of with footjoys.

have used callaway when i forget my permasofts, but the stitching in these comes apart after only a few holes.
