None of the other NSW lads who played at Wallacia today have been quick enough off the mark, so I get to start the thread.

32 points. Not great, not awful. I wasn't hitting it very far, so I couldn't reach a few greens, and then couldn't get up and down when I got there. 4 pars from 4 GIR's, and 14 bogeys tells the full story really.

Individual stableford at Cairns GC with Iain & the NQ gang.

I started on fire with 8 straight pars (including a few good looks at birdies which I didn't convert) but then my tee shot on 9 vanished into thin air.
The second nine didn't go quite as well, mainly due to another 3 x 3-putts after hitting the greens in reg. Still, I made a clutch 12 footer on 18 to save par, win the hole, and the bet. 8)

?? gross (didn't play out the 9th hole - but I was 74 for the other 17 holes)
35 pts

9 fairways
8 greens
30 putts (for 17 holes)

11 pars
6 bogies

In the proper thread this time:

Just back from my traditional 9 hole New Year's Day round with my dad out at Grose River GC. Took some time to get the stats written down, which I'll do a lot more often during 2010

+3 36 (par 33)
4/5 fairways
3/9 GIR
16 putts
2 birdies
3 pars
3 bogeys
1 double bogey

I've generally liked Grose River as a nice, scenic and quiet 9 holer, but never have I played on more waterlogged greens than today! I should have taken photos, but at any one time, the sprinklers were doing their thing on half of the greens when they didn't need to be on. 3 pin positions were to the brim with water, 4 greens had standing water that covered at least 1/3 of the surface, and they all ran very, very slowly. Can't say I would have made par for the 9 holes if the green quality was as it usually is, but 2 or 3 putts that I left short were on line and IMO would have gone in if the surface was at its usual level. It was probably a good thing that I didn't hit as many GIR (not intentional misses though), because my 60* Cleveland made up for that and the lies on the fringe were generally quite good.

First game in 7 weeks today (first time i've touched the clubs too)

28 points at Nudgee. Lots of missed fairways and putts ... some bladed bunker shots, a shank ... it was all in there ;)

Good to be back playing though 8)

I didn't have any bladed bunker shots, but I put in everything else today, except length. I have lost distance off the tee, and it hurts, particularly when I play badly with my other clubs.

32 points today at Camden Valley, with three missed putts under 4 feet, a shank, and I changed my swing four times during the round trying to find something that works.

New Years Day comp at Hartfield. Not a huge field but it was all quality... Insert laughter here.
44 points, 10x2 & 8x3. So for the number challenged that means no wipes, no 1 pointers but alas no 4 pointers.
89 off the stick which means my break 90 new year resoultion gets a tick.
For some strange reason the handicap fairy biatch slapped me down by 2.4 how that happen?
31 putts, 6 up and downs and 71% of fairways hit is always going to help.

Yesterday, 1/10/2009... somehow i shot 50 for 9, even though i made 4 pars...

Today, is another story :)... consistent ballstriking is being implanted into my golfing brain nicely... I learned what a follow-through was... and how to putt properly... and how to release properly.. haha

This morning was supposed to be me, Tomson, Solarman & Chopper71. The other 3 wussed out due to the inclement weather so that left myself & a late starter in Haysey to battle the elements.

It was supposed to be the Monthly Medal today, but it was changed to individual stableford due to the fact that not many players were showing up. The course played super long due to the Medal tees being used, and the fact that balls pretty much stopped where they carried to.

There was one group on the course when we started (they packed it in after about 12) and one group behind us, that might give an indication of how wet it was. There was water lying in big puddles on every hole. All of the bunkers were full, and even some greens had formed puddles. This was character-building stuff, but we soldiered on.

I'm pretty happy with the way I played considering the conditions. 1 stoopid 3-putt was balanced out by a 10m+ birdie putt.

Shit weather and disgraceful greens at Mirboo Nth. My play matched my surroundings.

91 was an inauspicious start to the 1st medal day of the year. I sucked.

Mareeba GC - Single Stableford

Went around with NKJ and a couple of Club Committee guys.

38 points (Last to get a ball in the run down:shock:)

FIR - 6/14
GIR - 5/18
Putts - 29 (One 3 putt)
1 Birdie

Have got the hooks with a driver that is supposed to be anti hook.

36 Points at Reddy Bay today. Played like a total spastic for 8 holes, and then something clicked and I played the last 10 in 5 over, including 3 lipped putts. Weird game.

goonie
2nd January 2010, 08:30 PM
I had 36pts at reddy bay too, only had 3 hours sleep last night and hit the driver badly today, it was one of those weird rounds when i was not happy with the way I was hitting the ball but was still scoring ok.
I had nothing less than 2 points per hole on the first nine (back nine) 20pts and 3 over off the stick, then just started spraying it on the second nine and I started pulling putts too, but somehow got 16pts with a wash.

I think I need to go to the range and work on the driver and 3 woods, that part of my game has been letting me down lately.

Monthly medal today. 78/66 (par 71)

5/13 fairways.
6 GIR.
27 putts.

With the recent rain compulsory tee up was lifted and this showed in the early scores with many strugling. I played really well and lost on a countback.

Now the CCR is back to normal I lost .6 which takes me to an all time low handicap of 11.

For the next few weeks I'm returning to my golfing homeland, Corowa. I look forward to playing on a better course that is a little more difficult.

Played at Deal today after not touching a club since Nov 3.

78 (-1 nett) with 12 pars and six bogeys

11/15 fairways (drilled it all day)
8 greens (was like the girl with the curl)
32 putts

Was just great to get back out there, and heartening to see I can still play after the layoff.

Mareeba GC - Single Stableford

41 points (19/21)

FIR - 7/14
GIR - 7/18

Birdies - 1

Didn’t drive it particularly well but was good on the recovery for the most.

Still leaving putts short or putting myself under a lot of pressure for the 3 and 4 footers.

I played in the individual stableford in Mareeba this morning with Ned Kelly (Matchplay final), and Haysey, Tomson & Solarman.

After flushing everything on the range, I lost the plot for the first 2 holes and walked off both with wipes. :smt013

I then got it under control and went on to play the remaining 16 holes in +2. Obviously I'm happy to be able to recover a score after such a bad start, but I'm regretting a couple of missed putts.

My total at Camden Valley today was 29 points, which is a bad score, but after I turned on 10 points it was looking a lot worse. Just the most awful golf imaginable. I can't see how having a lesson would make things worse, so I think I might take that plunge.

Terrible golf by me. Bad off the tee, and the short game was woeful, but I'm blaming the Vision X2 for that. The irons seemed to be doing okay, but were never given a chance to shine. The key stats suffered as a result.

High Fives: 1 (pre-round with jarro only)
Yeahs: 2 or 3 sarcastic calls
Chainsaws: 0
Fist Pumps: A couple of double handed ones on the last couple of hole, but there was no emotion in them.
Do I need to say more?

Next round: Two weeks Satdee, I'll be playing a round on the Coast in the morning. Nambour, Beerwah or Headland most likely.

Saturday was first monthly medal for 2010 at Bribie Island.
CCR was 75.
Net 76.
10/14 fairways.
Front nine zero greens in reg.
31 putts.
Says it all really...just couldn't hit a green and when I missed a fairway it was a shocker. Still no quads, one triple.
Improvement over the past 2 games as I at least git some fairways and also stayed in the buffer and didn't go out .1
