A friend is interested in a broomstick style long putter. Other than the fact Lonard used one for a while, does anybody have any experience with these particular putters? www.pendulumgolf.com.au

Merry Christmas,

Pete

Your friend is an idiot. Long putters are evil.

The last thing I need is another putter. You should know that!:D

And a search for 'pendulum' in the forum will find other posters' opinions.

Pete you could also point your friend in the direction of a thigh anchorpoint pendulum putter (http://www.sympleputter.com/).

Had a go with the long version when they came out. A member of our senior pennant team asked me to help him buy one. Gave it a run when it turned up and found it deadly from inside 2 metres. Almost bought myself one and probably should have. Just didn't feel right having one in the bag. That particular putter had a very heavy head with an insert head to dampen the speed of the ball off the face. I found it very pleasant to putt with.

Pete, have tried, putters are subjective, but i love mine. thigh anchor point works for me, more so than belly or chest. agree with Raz great from within 2m + and for me good for distance also. i like the weighty feel of the head. only thing i didn't like was the grip - for me felt a bit slippery. like the Karakal Jumbo grip, may go one size lower to the Karakal V grip.

How do those thigh anchor putters go for the longer putts? Do you need to change to a more conventional putting stroke outside a few metres?

no change, just more swing (or for the unconventional "hit") like a normal putter.
