2009 was a shambles to start with, but we got there in the end.

Can we get some interest for the 2010 season?

Scratchings will be much harsher this year. Cut off dates will be set in concrete. Lets do this the right way.

Yeah, I think 1st round matches in January are the way to go.

I will leave nominations open until the end of December and then make a draw straight away.

I think the knock out format works well.

So if we do knockout correctly, we should run with a 16 starter draw. The first round would only have 3 matches with the rest getting a bye. I'd suggest that the 2009 champ will automatically take one of those byes. I've done up a sample draw on paper, but I'll get a proper one done up if Adlo doesn't mind me telling him how to suck eggs?

The draw has been done. Here are a couple of things to take note of.

JC and Yoss are once again on different sides of the draw and as such won't play each other until the final, should they both make it again.

ZeusGolfer scored the free ride into the second round.

ID and I will be very interesting because I think the two of us are both capable of going low, but rarely do these days.

Two Hartfield boys going head to head in round one.

You will notice that none of this years finalists will have to play each other until the 3rd round.

I hope there are no GENUINE gripes with the draw. If there is, let me know, and I will fix it up.

...remember, it is for ALL of 2010. Maybe we should spread it out a little more (breathing space if fixtures get a little harder).

I might suggest 1st round by end of Feb, 2nd round by end of April , 3rd round by end of June, 1/4 Finals by end of Aug, Semi's by end of Oct and FINAL by end of December!!!

We can always incorporate the matchplay games into our more regular(hopefully) OzGolf days if required, as well as the S.W. trip !!!

I think a true matchplay tournament is played knockout style Yoss, but as a lot of other comps have, there is a 2 chance comp for a minor prize. Personally, if I get done, I'm happy not to play any more that year.

I go along with Bergsey, Adlo and ID - if games are spread out throughout the year and also if the first match is after 3rd January, I should be fine to play. I figure being a private member, who tries to play away every 2-3 weeks with the Hartfield reciprocal rights, its another excuse to get the odd games in at KB, Bunbury or Binningup, etc.

So this is another great opportunity to get good use out of your club membership whilst still playing the odd game on other courses - which is good for your game. Also I enjoy the relaxed company of the ozgolfers, as in private club events, members can sometimes take things a bit seriously and build up too much tension and stuff. Additionally - what a great opportunity to prepare some of us for club pennants this year?

Unlike Mt Lawley and my old club Cabramatta, Hartfield has about 5 teams - quite increadible. They have Div 1, Div 4, 5, 6 and 7 for metro pennants. This year I played #1 in Division 5 playing off 7. I was on the reserves list for Division 4, but most of those guys were playing of 3-6 hcps.

Fully agree...thats why I also play winter pennants only. Also I find scoring easier in the summer and tougher in the winter, hence a good reason to play pennants during the challenging weather conditions of July/August.

Hartfield will be closer to where I'll be living, only ten mins, but it will be a lot closer to get to after work than KB would be.

I have said it once.... I will say it again. You will struggle to be a member anywhere else after you have played KB so often.

Hartfield will frustrate you, especially in the way it limits your short game options.

mate i know that i can hit the toaster just fine, but something happened last thursday and it just looks so shut at address to me now. i tried opening it up, sitting it sq. and at shut and everything inbetween and can't get two hits in a row out of it. Left, rights, snaphooks, blocks, push slice everything!!

Took my mizuno 500 out on sunday and it just looked damn good at address. won't be getting rid of the toaster, just keeping it for times when i need a more closed driver. looking for something neutral or just slightly closed like the cobra s9.1 - 1/2deg closed. the toaster sits 1.5deg closed.

I know what you're saying JC but even looking at the toaster on my back lawn, i can't figure out where it should sit at address.

Zues -like the name, strong of the tee - consistent and straight. Hell of a competitor, unless he feels that his putter goes awry. You're in for a tough match. Plays of 14 but can go low when he doesn't tinker with his swing during the round.

As he's a copper, he can be quite stoic but never seen him carry his gun in his bag.

Just throwing this out there in case some are unaware that Hartfield has a policy of 6 rounds as a visitor per year? After that, you may only play the course in an open event such as the Hartfield Open or Pennants, public day (Monday, Tuesday) or by joining.
