I shot -1 at Elanora CC today.

Can't be really bothered to talk much about my round but I just played great golf.

The greens at Elanora are the best of any course in the country (Obviously I haven't played them all but they are that good..)

3 Greens Under Regulation
9 GIR
29 putts

Highlights:

Hitting driver, 3i over the green on 2. 500m Par 5
Driving the green on the 3rd hole to about 25 feet. 270m Uphill.
Driver, 58 degree wedge to a couple of inches on the 4th.
Driver, 3i onto the 6th green and 2 putts for 4 points.
And hitting a drive 300m uphill on the 16th (breeze behind of course).

I was sinking putts all day long and I didn't miss one putt inside 8 feet.

There were many good other shots but those were the best.

Was it in a comp?

ParMaster
7th December 2009, 05:44 PM
It was advertised as a comp by NSW but it wasn't..

I was pretty pissed after being told that after the game.

Played a 4BBB stableford today. We finished with 43 points so average, I had 35 pts on my own (16/19)

4 GIR
3 up and downs
6/14 FIR
30 putts
7 pars
8 bogeys
3 doubles

Not great but better than my last couple of rounds. Took me 3 holes to get the shoulder turn happening Doh:(

Well what an awesome day at NSW..

We ended up winning the christmas competition with 48 points (4BBB) with 23, 25 points on both 9's. I played one of the best game ever and I started Birdie, Par, Birdie, Birdie. Wow.

My score overall would have been -3 if it weren't for a bad hole on 13 (triple). I've been told that there is a chance that 4bbb events can go towards handicaps.. True? So 41 points for myself.

Highlights:

Driving the first green with a smashed drive. 2 putt birdie.
Getting U&D from short right of the 2nd green to a back left pin.
Hooking a 3w around the corner on 3rd hole and then a 58 degree wedge to 8 feet. Got the putt.
Drive down the middle on 4 and PW from 115 to (at one stage it was 1 foot away) to 15 feet right online with the pin. Sunk the putt (of course:mrgreen:).
Missing a 1.5 foot putt for 3 points on the 7th..

Shot of the day was on the 12th hole. I hit my drive over the hill on the right side and I was just in the right rough. My ball was on the intermediate cut and resting against the think stuff on a big downhill lie. I was 225m from the middle of the green and I had to carry the 'badlands' 190m from where I was (into a breeze). I put the ball back in my stance and I played a low hook to run up the slope. Swung as hard as I could possibly could and it rolled onto the green 60 feet from the hole..! 2 putt birdie.

Driver through the fairway on 15. I then hit a PW from 120m to about 6 feet. Sunk the putt for 4 points.
3 wood around the corner on 16 (breeze from L-R) and then a 6i which almost landed in the hole on the full. It ran to about 12 feet and I left the downhill putt short.

Weird shot of the day. On 17 (153m par 3. 135m from where we where) I hit a full PW and I hit like an inch behind the ball like I normally due. Anyway it was like a big mishit or something and I just let go of the club (It jarred my hands) and the club came over my shoulder and hit myself in the leg pretty hard. I don't know how but the ball actually went about 15 feet past the pin despite the fact I didn't think I could get it past if I hit it perfectly.. :?

On 18 I hit the drive down the left near the driving range. 3i from 200m went just short left of the green. Got up and down for the birdie, 3 pointer, AND THE WIN!!! We won by 2 points today.

:D

My prize for winning the day was laughable. An 8 kilogram ham and 7 kilo turkey.

Anyone hungry? ;)

I'll take the ham if you don't want it :D Nice shooting.

Played steady in the 4B today, steady eddy! Putting has gone south on the greens at Reddy (except 11) as they are still fairly slow. We had 41 pts I think, both playing poorly on the same holes.

Nice drive on the first! Only played it once, but lost a couple of balls OOB left on that one because I didn't warm up... In hindsight, an "iron for sfety" down the guts would have been the go.

ParMaster

There is no OOB at NSW.

Iron or Hybrid is definately the play and I wouldn't take driver off the 1st again unless it was a team event (like it was yesterday).

21 Points in the chook run this arvo. Could have been better if a couple of putts had dropped. 5 pars, 3 bog and a double. 15 putts, 4/7 fwy, 3 greens. New old irons seem pretty good.

Played WAGC yesterday afternoon with Bergsey and Tourfit on their Friday afternoon scroungers. Scores in stableford were 42, 37 and 41. Bergsey came in 2nd and I came in third. The winner was 47 who played of 27 or so. Course is plays to 69 and rated 70.

I had four doubles in my round. Certainly better than the 7 wipes and 23 points I had on the previous day at Hartfield. The putts dropped and the ball bounced the right way and as usual my back nine was better than the front.

Played Stableford at Newcastle GC today.

The course is starting to look pure again wth fairways and greens getting as nice cover hapening.

Doubled the 1st again!

Shot 33 points off 1.

29 putts
2 x 3 putts
7 GIR
2 doubles
2 birdies

I was the referee for the final NQ matchplay round today between Ned Kelly & Solarman. As per the match thread, Ned was crushed by the weight of Solarmans elephantitis-effected handicap.
I scored ok for the day, but felt it could have been much, much better.

81 gross
36 pts

3 fairways
7 greens
29 putts

1 birdie
9 pars
7 bogies
1 other (triple)

The highlight would have to be seeing my tee shot hit the bottom of the flag-stick on the 175m par 3 13th.

As a pair had 46 points.

I ended up having 42 points on own. Was nice to hit the ball well.

Best thing was that I didn't hit anybody with a golf ball today :smt038

Probably its 3rd bounce. The birdie putt was an 8ft downhill slider which finished behind the hole.

FWIW, the birdie was on the short par 4 10th hole, and I missed a 4ft birdie attempt on the 18th as well.

Played at WAGC (Yokine) yesterday with idgolfguy & Bergsey (plus his work mate). Scoring was good.

TourFit 37pts (22/15)
id 41pts (20/21)
Bergsey 42pts (20/22)

I fell apart a bit on the back nine (with a lost ball WIPE). It kinda made me pissed and I lost some concentration. Was also getting pretty tired too. No excuse though, I wasted a great start.

So, so, so, so. Monthly Medal today..

CCR 72, par 72.. 47 + 44 = 91, nett 74..

1 birdie
5 pars
4 bogs
8 double bogs < my killer today!!!
35 putts

Can not hit my driver for shite atm, I only tried on one hole and hit it crap. Ended up using my 3 wood with mostly good effect. Windy, windy! Hit 3 wood, 3 wood into a 350m par 4. 4 cruddy shots that I should have taken more time on, left 2-3 easy putts out there. But I did drain a 30 footer for birdie on the last.

Enough to make make not sleep in tomorrow morning and play comp! :)

Long golfing day today. Up very early to play Beacon Hills with my coach.

Hit the ball pretty well but didn't handle the elevation changes very well. Went spectacularly long a couple of times uphill and stupid short down hill etc. Deceptively slippery greens too.

Despite all that had 38 points. I am going back next Sunday and if I can play like today but make correct club choices I will break 80 easily.

11/13 effective tee shots
32 putts
2/6 sand saves

Partner playing off 30 had 26 points himself for the first 9 holes (ended up with about 40 for 18). He was 8 under handicap (20 points) after 6 holes, but couldn't carry me and keep his own score going.

Single Stab at Brookwater yesterday off the front gold tees. Rough start with 11 points on the front 9. Did everything wrong. Hit it a bit better on the back 9 and was square through 16 only to lose 2 balls on the last couple of holes for 19 points. 30 points (85 gross) was ok I guess.

Won the sidebet against choppa & nudgee which was much more satisfying. Had plenty of hit & giggle holes where we all tried to belt it off the planet. A couple connected too!

Not sure when my next game will be. Might try and play monthly medal after Xmas but will possibly be the Ballina game for Duncan.

Played Moe with the old man early yesterday morning. Just lost it for the first 8 holes, could not get off the tee for crap. Even dropping back to my 3 wood did not help!

Had 13 & 19 points (23 for the last 10 holes).

2 birds were my highlights of the day. One was a short par 4 where I put my 2nd shot (9 iron) to within 1m and the next was when I did the same on another par 4 with a 7 iron 2nd shot. So I am starting to like the height I am getting out of these TM R9 TP's! Just cost me a little distance when hitting into the wind.

First time I've got to post in here for some time. Only the 4th time I've played at home since June :(

Was PAR from the back tees and I have been really struggling for I don't know how long.
Putting has been really bad, I changed the Jumbo grip on the YES for the original and unfortunately after 9 holes my results were no better.

My iron play was very ordinary, my driver was unusually straight, bunker play and chipping was of a very high quality.

I was 2 down at the turn and was 4 down with 5 to play. So I put myself under the pump and said come on idiot see if you can get back to square (I had shots 4 of the last 5). Well I parred the next, next, next, next and run a 25 footer just past the rim to finish square.

1 down was a great result for me as I have been hitting the pill f%^king sideways.

Yeah yeah so after all that I am back to trying to buy a putting stroke....

It's been an achilles since I started to play again - 5 strokes in a game from 3 jabs is pretty unacceptable when none were 40 footers etc.
Unlike Peteyd who reckons missing a 10footer is a bad putt I reckon getting a 4 footer is a good putt - I lag putt from 6 foot :(
