There are a handfull (maybe a doz) forum members that appear to have this problem. I am not referring to those who enjoy a business sideline, but the tragic trafficers in golf clubs who are always upgrading their equipment. I have never been able to understand this.....anybody?

If they posted in this thread, they would no longer be anonymous.

Most do it, not to play better, but because they enjoy using shiny new gear.

In the last 12 months I've bought
5 Drivers
8 Fairway woods
9 Hybrids
4 sets of irons
17 wedges
7 putters
4 bags
4 pairs of shoes
Does this mean I qualify Ray?

For your penance say "I wouldn't know a nine iron from a steam iron" 20 times; "scratch wedge, not snatch wedge" 20 times; and finally "I will smile on the golf course when I play with SMS or Razaar" 20 times.

He usually smiles when he plays with me. Our conversations are "special".

It must be you Ray.

And I bought a Ping putter and fishing rod for $3 at the op shop.

I find my hoing is inversely proportionate to the amount of golf I am playing.

Over summer I was playing twice a week and had no desire to ho gear, now I haven't played in five weeks and I am getting itchy again...

I love the playing around with gear part of ho'ing but ultimately it is just the quest for something you want.

My irons/hybrids/wedges are quite stable and the 3 wood may end up reshafted with an existing one but it will remain in the bag long term as well.
Putters...you can't throw stones Raz but I only have 3 at present which is pretty good IMHO. Is there a perfect putter - only one way to find out :-)
Drivers - yep well the club that causes the greatest problem is always subject to the most change ;-) Of course we know it is the swing with the club that causes the most problem but the inanimate can't argue back!

Still in 15 months I have only had 3 sets or irons, 2 sets of wedges, 1 set of hydrids, 3 drivers, 2 three woods. OOohh and 5 putters :-(

In this context, somebody with an addiction issue that he/she acknowledges.

Correct, cut price hoing is more cost effective when compared to Cool Aid hoing ;)

I've still, in all my days of hoing a lot of gear, only lost more than 10% on a club/swet once, and that includes some gear I had for 3+ years.

I was a fool to buy the R7TPs retail, but I learnt from it and never did it again!

I wake up and tell myself that every day, then by lunch its, I could reshaft this with that, and change the loft on that and so forth.

I like Tom Wishons book "The Search for the Perfect Club"
