I have Google Earth open and noticed a number new images have been loaded. Bribie Island and Pacific Harbour courses are now quite viewable. The Redland Bay image is also new and more correctly located (was previously out by about 10m to the SE). I suspect there has been a major update from recent surveys.

It must be a very recent update too.

The school behind our house had a fence put in across the schoolyard two weeks ago, and it's now viewable on GE.

There must be a secret military installation near my house, its 6 years old and still Google shows farmland and trees.... yet some other houses a 100 metres away that are about 2 years old show up. Wierd

I passed some small white car yesterday that had some black tower on top of it and looked like camera's pointing in 4 directions? Wondered if it was a google car. Wasn't going slow.

I think the Google cars are white Astras.

Could easily have been an astra. Only saw it at the last second, but was a white hatch of some sort. mtr+ high thing on the roof.

The image of our place is dated 2006. My sisters in brisbane is 2007 and pelican waters is 2008.

If they're the cars I've been seeing around lately, I should be in a good number of new images in Sydney (St George area). I'm famous!

My house just appeared on Google maps, it wasnt there last night
Dads ute is parked out the front, which suggests the photo is less than a year old.

Thats a surprise really, the Government doesnt usually release such modern sat photos into the public domain. From memory when google maps first came out they could only get maps dated arround 2001 or so.

Kooralbyn Valley, finally we get to see it :-), but it looks dead, no golfers on the course. But at least its an indication that the grass is being mowed, maybe there is hope yet

They haven't done that good of a job. There is still only one Gatway Bridge and the new part of the Gateway Motorway hasn't even been dug up yet.

Google uses a combo of planes and high resolution imagery sats to take images, both just take a "band" of images rather than a whole area. So you might get one area which has new images and right next to it are old images depending on the flight path of the aircraft or the line which the camera on the sat was focussed.

my understanding is that all faces are replaced by a completely random face, like not someone elses, completely random bits put together.

Should be quite an interesting experience, looking at a pic of your self, knowing it is you, but its someone else.

The Google car drove right by me on Flinders Lane in Melbourne the week of Christmas.

I'll be interested to see if it was filming
