Been using OOBGOLF for a while now i have only played 5 18 hole rounds, but shot 78 today and it says my handicap is now 5.7.

How long till it levels out, how many rounds? Surely it will go up again? As i have only entered 5 scores

Ummm.... there wouldn't be anyone in Australia who's average over par is the same as their handicap.

It is possible, but it is extraordinarily unlikely.

is the loading or rating for the course you are playing incorrect maybe ?

Frequently Asked Questions:

What is differential?
Differential is essentially the difference between your ESC Score and the score that a scratch golfer would record on the same course. It is calculated as follows:
((Score - Rating) X 113) / Slope

How are 9-hole scores handled?
9-hole scores must be paired together before they are calculated into handicap. The scores are paired chronologically. This means that you will only see your handicap adjusted every other 9-hole score entered.

What is ESC Score?
ESC stands for Equitable Stroke Control. It basically is a max score based on your handicap and keeps that hole-gone-bad from ruining a round. Note that oobgolf automatically calculates ESC if you are scoring hole-by-hole and therefore you should still record your actual score. The max score for a round changes based on your handicap and the course difficulty, see chart below:

It actually says for 5-6 rounds they take the lowest score, the more games i put on it should go up a bit i think

So the 78 ****ed you up.

Well, for next week anyway, and the week after that.

heres how it works. is this what we are adopting?
Scores EnteredLowest Scores Used> 201019918817715-16613-14511-1249-1037-825-61

well that wasnt supposed to be like that

Try this

So more than 20 rounds they use the 10 lowest scores.

So that means instead of 3 cards to get a handicap its like 20

No idea why you'd be scouring Victoria for a teaching pro if you just shot a 78 on the back of instruction from the OzGolf brains trust. :)

everything just went well, couple of lucky breaks, but concentrated on posture for the whole round.

probably because with only 5 rounds in the hcap index is calculated on the best 2 rounds only (maybe one).

There are charts everywhere online that tells you how many rounds are counted if you have less than twenty scorecards in.

zigwah

yeah its the lowest score up to 6 cards.

Good shout henno, zigwah I suggest shafting your handicap with something with a slightly more active tip and see if that gets it heading higher again.

Enjoy.
