Couldn't happen to a nicer lady. First Grand Slam mom since our very own in 1980. Spanked both the William's along the way and played better than ever. Williams S has traditionally dominated her yet she planted Serena to positions of the court she rarely ever finds herself. Outblasted her, and now in the final she outlasted and outhustled a patient baseliner. Nice scenes too with her little daughter after the win.

Futures looking good.

Didn't Serena go berko. Admittedly foot faults just don't get called at that stage of a tourney and semi but oh well. Suck it up :smt038

It was an amazing achievement, but it says a lot about the lack of progress in women's tennis. There's no way you could have an extended break in men's tennis and expect to win a grand slam like that, because it constantly changes.

She played a great game. I thought the other chick had her halfway through the first set but Kim came back good and won.

Congratulations.

HA !

With that little bronze ballet dress she wears - who cares. It is the only reason women should play 5 sets.

And one of the other good things about her is that she is not a blurter. You can watch her play with the mute off.

The Woz is also the big scalp that Dokic claimed in the Oz open earlier this year.

Let's see if Del Potro can improve on his 0/6 0/6 0/6 loss to Fed's at the Aussie Open

His record against Fed is 0-6 too.

I have no problem with the foot fault call. There is no need to get that close to the line. Why do you think it's not called every time, TNO?

Because her tits are very intimidating.

Maybe she is related to that South African 100m runner?

It's a massively controversial rule. Early press has given her a whalloping as it seems customary for foot faults not to be called at various important times.

I'd say unless it's blatant it mostly goes under the counter. A call at this stage of this sort of match is near unheard of. Too bad tho, it happened and Serry just has to wear it.

I've never heard the custom about it not being called before. If she stands further back, it would never be a problem. I wonder if it was a symptom of the pressure getting to her.

Here's a really good blog on the incident.

Hey, i didn't say correct, but it's good reading IMHO. One end of the spectrum maybe

How dare an official enforce the rules at a crucial moment of the match.

It's like those trying to claim there should not have been a free kick to Anthony at the end of the Pies v Crows final.

How good was that match... even a one eyed rugby lad like myself enjoyed that match.

I reckon Kimmy would give Ley Ley a touch up on the court at the moment

She would be lucky to get a game off Federer, unlike Hewitt who took a set and pushed him.
