I just got my renewal slip from Mirboo North and they have added a new category of membership.
Country Member (Resident beyond 100km) - $110.
For this bargain price you get your AGU official handicap holding and up to 8 games a year at Mirboo, but would be ineligible for board events.
For those looking for cheap handicap maintenance this looks like a good deal in comparison to other GAA style arrangements.

Is it definitely $110? The website is still saying $175?

I've just written to them to update that page.
Things move slow in the country.

I'm pretty sure it's cheaper at The Australian Antarctic Territory Golf Club. Radio contact was lost three months ago so it's a bit hard to check at the moment.
Australian Antarctic Territory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Antarctic_Territory)160°E to 142°2'E and
136°11'E to 44°38'E

Bruce - do you still need a proposer and a seconder? Any minimum number of games to be played there per year required?

I doubt they will sweat over proposer and seconders.
No minimum games - but there is apparently a maximum of 8 rounds included in this new deal.

Howlong Golf Club is a bargain. About $85 for full membership. Not a bad little track, either.

I'm on a similar deal at Cohuna, although it's looking more and more like a donation.
I could have gone with golf access or whatever it's called, but I kinda liked the idea of throwing my money at a country track, and I thought it would be a good incentive for a couple of trips up to the Murray later in the year.
I think I get 6 games and a handicap for $110 or something like that.
