Boys, recetly taken a wedge out of the bag and looking to fill the void at the top end. My bag is going to be set up as follows
Dr - 8.5*
3w -13*
Hy -18* adam a4 tour proto type - contemplating purchase
HY -20* adam a4 tour proto type - contemplating purchase
4i to pw 23* -46*
gw- 52*
lw - 58*

I Hit my current hybrid 18* 205m approx
I hit my 4iron 23* 180m approx

Is the 20* gonna fill the gap, should i even bother with it for the odd 190ish meter shot. your help is appreciated

I have put a Titleist 585h 19* in the bag recently, the first round I hit it 4 times, twice really well, twice a little fat but still straight.

Last weekend I played and hit it 3 times, every time 'gun barrel' straight and between 195 and 210 mtrs.

I must say I am impressed. Contemplating dropping the 3/4 iron's and replacing them with say a 23* hybrid so that I can play 3 wedges.

I have similar setup . 8.5* driver , 13* 3wood , 18* and 23* hybrids , 5-PW and 3 wedges 52*,56* and 60* . Easy to choke down on clubs to get that inbetween distance .

Same as this for me except driver is 9.5*

At present I've got a 15°, 20° & 24°. Then 6i (31°) through PW (47°).
Gaps are probably a touch too big, especially between 24° & 6i. Will have to do some more range time to see if the gap needs to be filled by a 5i.

Will probably replace 15° with a MT Fairway, also have the option of slotting a 17° hybrid in if need be.

get a 5 wood and a 23* hyrbid and put the 4iron in the cupboard.

That's a pretty small gap between those two hybrids. I carry a 3 wood and my 21 degree hybrid can fill the gap ok to 4 iron. I tried bagging a 19 degree in addition but it didn't work out well. I find it easier to play with the set-up to hit different length shots. I grip down and swing smooth to hit higher floaters around 170, and also can hit lower draws which can roll out to the 200 mark. That is the versitality of hybrids. I now prefer to carry 3 wedges including a dedicated sand wedge.

You can get the same result by going slightly down the shaft of the hybrid. I find it easy to take off 10m.

my planned setup is similar. 8.5deg-13deg-17deg-3 iron.

Thanks everyone for help. the bag is going to look like this
D -8.5*
3w -13*
1H -16*
3H -20* or 21* 3 iron
4-PW -23* to 46*
GW -52*
LW -58*

I think that should cover it. I can wait for shiny new toys now;)

I think you can do without the 1H. How far do you hit your 3W? A gap of 20-25 m at distances of 200 m to me is more than acceptable. I think you would be better of investing in a SW. One situation where the 1H may prove useful is if you have trouble hitting your 3W off the deck and are more succesful with a 1H. You are not so much filling a gap but rather giving yourself additional shot options.

I interchange with these depending on course and conditions

Taylormade rescue 16*
Cobra baffler pro 18*
Callaway #7 wood (5 wood loft 7 wood length
Sonartec Hybrid 23*
3 & 4 iron

I hear what you are saying, but i'm happy with this set up as i have played 4 wedges and it gives me to many options and it cause trouble.
I like to keep short game simple:smt087
I feel this set up gives me several options on par 5's to go for the green in 2 and some options on narraw par 4' and silly long par 3's
