I know some of you on here have bought and used these in the past and was hoping someone could email me the instructions or tell me how to use it.

Thanks,

Does it make your wedges put more spin on the ball?

I have used one of these for years.

THE SECRET is not not push down hard. Just run it back and forth 20 or 30 times with light pressure.

LIGHT PRESSURE !!!

Cannot stress the enough - I can do a video on how to do it properly if you need. The Utube one is asking for you to scratch up your wedges.

Virge, are you asking us to NOT listen to this guy?

I'm not sure how they'd go on "spin milled" type faces though, guy.

Oh, and don't buy from Hilltop Golf Works (aka WildWilly on golfwrx) he took my cash and that's the last I heard from him. I'm not the only one either.

Tomson has just got a groove sharpener of some sort. I'll be trying it out on my wedges as the Mizzy has no Jizzy!

Yes, Virge- The bloke on Youtube looks like a butcher carving up a little lamb.

Is it best used sideways? With light pressure.

How much did you give him?

How much did you give him?

Can't remember. $20 or $30 only.

virge666

True dat.

Double true. Mizzy wedges just don't seem to grip after about 3 months.

....

Spin Milled is not a problem - the face is milled - not the grooves. (Derrr)

Stick the club in some rubber vice jaws, and just gently rub the carbide tip back and forth in each groove. The carbide has such a sharp and hard edge it will just carve through the soft metal on the wedges like butter. Cast wedges take a few extra strokes, but the same method is the way to go.

The reason you don't use any pressure is because if you do - any little nick in the groove will send the groove cutter out of said grooves carving up your $200 wedge.

Can't say this enough - it's like masterbation - it is all about the pressure otherwise it just ends in tears.

Golfworks about 6 years ago - you just replace the carbide tips every couple of years or so.

Shame he didn't come through Henno. I bought one of his sharpeners probably 2 years ago and I seem to remember it took a while to arrive on the boat. Nice tool but wouldn't pay anymore than he charged for it. Interestingly I have only used it on two wedges. I find if you keep the grooves clean the only damage I get is from the odd pebble pushing in the sides of the groove. The Wildwilly tool does widen the groove out again quite well.
