Yesterday: Windsor Golf Club - social round with my dad and brother

Shot 86 - was really happy with my long irons (which got a fair bit of use due to their shorter dogleg par 4s from holes 4 to 6 and a couple of longer par 3s). Made a good sand save on the 9th after my second found a front left green side bunker. My highlight (a 6 iron on the par 3 11th to a bit over 2m) was quickly followed by an ugly 4 putt. Nice course that I'll certainly play again in the future when the time allows.

Today: Grose River Golf Course - practice round where I more or less kept the scorecard in my pocket.

The weather here in western Sydney was atrociously wet this morning and it was tough to get a rhythm and consistency going. Got a bit of practice using my 6 and 7 iron to do some green side chipping and was happy with the results most of the time. Other than that, the putting was on the poor side and I felt that the weather was causing me to rush things, and thus caused me to play like rubbish.

Tomorrow I'll probably head to Dunheved for a hit, and not rush things.

Virginia today. 92/74. Started with a birdie and then 2 doubles :(. 4 Fairways, 2 greens, 33 putts. Still had a chance or breaking the handicrap until a double at 16. But on the bright side they had a big sale at the pro shop and I finally got a Burner 3 wood I have been looking for.

That 3rd green can be a total bastard, along with 5 if you are on the top and the flag on the bottom.

35 points today (82 gross) in a single stab at Brookwater. Very similar to my round on Sunday where I played great for 12 holes then fell in a heap. I turned with 20 points (best ever) and was square through 12, then hit shanks or flubs on 13,14,15,16 for 4 points on those holes. Parred 17 & 18 to finish with 15 points for the back.

Can't complain I guess, 35 points around here is pretty decent.

Nice round mate - you obviously play well with distressed women.:)
What about the lady cyclist standing on the road behind the 12th green going on about a red bellied black snake near the fence; and her slower mate ridind along talking into her cell phone (shouting into her phone) and falling off her bike when her mate yelled out about the snake. The snake would have been long underground to get away from their noise. Poor ol Just trying to play his chip on their side of the green had no chance.

KristianJ

Played 18 at Glenmore Heritage – started off with a couple of ordinary double bogeys, then settled down a bit after a par on the par 3 3rd. Highlight came at the 5th (359m par 4 with a bit of a dogleg left)...hit a perfect tee shot with my 19deg hybrid, then hit an 8 iron from about 140 to 6cm from the pin…birdie tap in.

6/14 fairways (3 or 4 of the misses were only a metre or 2 off the edge of the fairway), 10 GIR, didn’t count the putts, but there were a couple of lip outs and some 3 putts that cost me from breaking 80. However in the final few holes I felt that I was getting the best out of the Itsy Bitsy and that my misses weren’t as ugly as they have been. Most of my tee shots on the par 4s and one of the par 5s were with the hybrid, and I was happy with my consistency with it.

Front 9 42, back 9 39, final score of 81 (par 72).

I had a highly acceptable 36 points in the Camden Valley saturday comp today. If I could've holed a few 10 footers it would have been a very good score, but considering the slump I was in, I'm fairly happy.

nothing radical, just that Leadbetter drill which Faldo used to do where he pre-set the wristcock very early in the swing and just focussed on turning the shoulders. Insane winds today. Round started with cowering under a bush beside the first tee as hail rained from the heavens.

Shot 15 on the front, 15 on the back for 30. Was equal second (leader 31) when I left.

4 to 5 club breezes on some holes made it a real adventure.

Playing partner, who plays off 10, had 3 points on the front 9! Good thing we had a skins game going.

Some whinged, I found it awesome fun.

First game back today after an ankle has kept me out for the last 5 weeks. I may have come back to soon as I am hurting now.

Anyway I had 39 points which I am happy about but left a heap out there.

4/13 Fairways
4 GIR
30 Putts which included two 3 putts and a 4 putt.
4/14 Up & Downs

I am happy with the round but it still included 2 wipes and 2 one pointers.

Also I just checked my golflink to find that 39 points isn't good enough to lose anything off my handicap.

Played Mareeba today with the count, big bird and anton. Played crap. Big deal.

Playing down 18 I pushed my drive to the right towards the tree line. Found my ball in the trees, hit it again (not very far) , went to play my third shot when ... hang on a minute ... that isn't my ball.
It is a ball I use regularly (srixon zurc) with my markings (a blue dot either side of the logo) but I'm using a bridgey e6 today.

fmd

My 'real' ball was another 10 metres to the right of where my 'wrong' ball sat.

The funny thing is it was definitely my ball once apon a time ( I know my dots ) and I don't remember the last time I lost a ball at Mareeba.

Bizarre.

I played today in the Pennant Hills Cup at Pennant Hills GC (obviously). I played very erratic golf and I shot 75, 78 for 153 total. While I didn't play great golf I hit some fkn amazing shots.

My playing partners for the day were DEAD. No personality, Didn't talk, Swore and threw clubs...:x They were just horrible, horrible people.

Anyway these were the highlights:

1st round (Started off 1st)

1st hole: Nice drive 215m out from green. Hybrid to 10 feet and lipped out eagle putt.
4th hole: Hit 3i over the green. (Back right pin) Chipped a PW to 15 feet short. Putting over a ridge and downhill, sunk putt.
8th hole: Chipped 7i from 110m to 20 feet.
16th: Hybrid down right side of FW. PW to 4 feet. Sunk putt for birdie.
17th: Nice Driver, SW to 2 inches.
18th: Speared 4i, 64 degree wedge chip to 6 feet, sunk putt.

2nd round (Started off 10th)

10th: Overdrawn drive into left trees. Huge hooked 7i from 175m to 20 feet. That was a career shot!! :D
15th: Hooked drive into left trees. 6i chip under branches near bunker. Sunk 25 footer from off of green.
16th: Hybrid into right trees. Low spinning sand wedge between 2 trees to 35 feet right. Lipped out the putt.
18th: 4i into heart of green. Solid 2 putt to front left pin from 25 feet.
1st: Hooked drive down the middle of 17th fw. Low hooked 4i between trees to 5 metres short of green. Also an amazing shot!
3rd: Long drive 270 down right side. 4i just on green, 2 putt birdie.
8th: 3i left of green. 25y chip shot severely downhill that stopped hanging over the edge. It refused to go in the fkr. ;)

Lincoln Tighe won the day with 69, 65. He drove the 16th with a hybrid and hit into the front left bunker on 15.:o

The course was in good condition but some of the "fairways" were pretty horrid. (If you can call them that) Understandibly so because of the rain.

I came about 20th/60.

Hope ya guys enjoyed my post. ;)

Do you write all this down as you go along or can you remember it?

I have enough trouble remembering what happened on 18 holes at my home course let alone 36 and a different one.

It was an eventful day.

But my playing partners! SHEESH No matter how good a shot you hit they wouldn't say anything.

The most consecutive words one of the guys said today was 7.

PM were they older than you? Old guys hate seeing young guys play good.

Not really mike. It was a vardon event so they wouldn't get annoyed because of that.

They just would not say anything, smile, talk, blink, eat or do anything at all. Just walk around and hit the ball. Repeat 150 times.

Well I managed to shave a couple of strokes from last weeks effort and shoot my best score for 9 yet with a 47. Started shakey with two doubles but got into a rhythm and shot 4 singles and two pars over the next 6 to be on track for a bogey average round.

Hit a reasonable tee shot on the last that left me with two options a little pitch shot out to the fairway on the left to give myself a 7-8i into the green or a 4m gap between a fairway tree and the right rough to attack the green with 5i. Had a rush of blood and went the 5i and got a prompt reminder that I'm not that good. A nice fat bit of the tree in the fairway deflecting down into the trees in the right rough. Chipped out, pitching wedge to the RHS of green, left the pitch and roll way short and the subsequent 15' putt 3" short to two putt to take a triple

Still I'm very happy with my progress and the last hole calamity was a timely lesson to stick to the plan and leave the hero shots to Parmaster ;)

Nice work Pieface with that sweet nine.

As for leaving those hero shots... live dangerously I say 8) chipping out is so boring (albeit sensible )

Hehe

You gotta go for those shots though. Because those "career" shots are what keeps bringing you back for more torture . That 1 good shot can erase the other 80 bad ones you do in a round. ;)

Finishing Uni was the best thing for your ball striking.

Fixing your short game is easy. You just need to learn a few easy to execute shots. You stuff up easy shots!

Yeah my irons were hot today, actually hit a 160m 5 iron onto a par 3 and made par  I'm not sure I'm doing that edwin thing right but I am compressing the ball really well.

But a couple of my wedge shots...

You're hopeful. Most scores lower than Gresham's and Nagle's shared record from the 1960's have a tendency to be 'misplaced'.

I'll check with one of the historians, when I see them. I tend to recall that Won Jon Lee shot a course record in the PH Cup three years back. (But it may have been a new record, after 3rd and 5th were re-contoured, due to PHR widening and the M2.) He may have shot a 62.

ps. Gresham's and Nagle's cards adorn the main bar, painted like the championship boards. (Hence my joke about misplacing the lower scores.)

We didn't play from the very back plates so you could say it wasn't a "real" course record. In hindsight I should have kept the card, but I had other things on my mind that day.. (I had a meeting with the trainee board as they wanted to suspend me and a couple of others for heading to the pub instead of sitting in some more lectures after a week of "intensive school" over at Narrabeen..)

Yes Dotty I do recall Gresham and Nagles scores in the clubhouse, but I believe the course had changed considerably since then?
