Carbrook G.C today.

31 (18/13) points with two wipes (10 and 16)

Hit the driver well again, but my short game let me down ...... and i also missed two 7 foot birdie putts :(

The course was in great nick, with the pins tucked in places normally reserved for the Shark Challenge (so my playing partners told me) so it played pretty tough.

I hadn't been there in ages and forgot what a great little course Carbrook really is 8-)

I played at Oatlands today and it was just "One of those days."

I started off well and i was -1 after 5 and then i started to count my chickens before they hatched. I finished +11.

No spectacular shots although this game i just seemed to monster the **** out of the ball. On the par 5's my shortest drive was 295m. For those of you that know Oatlands well here is what i hit into the par 5's:

8th: 490m hole, 315m drive, 6i.
13th: 480m hole, 300m drive, 5i.
15th: 495m hole, 295m drive, 4i.

Ok so what score do you think i finished with for each of those par 5's? If you said 9, 5 and 4 then you'd be correct.

ALL OF THE ABOVE:mrgreen:

Nah, i wish:) but new wedges helped with the jizz. Sad to say coaching and pratice and playing longer clubs into greens with a smoother softer swing.

Played at Ryde-Parramatta GC today for the 1st time ever and i shot a pretty crap 32 points for +6 scratch.

I played with a delightful asian gentleman who was a drug dealer and also a retired Croatian man who spoke very little english and was deaf. The croatian man was an absolute terrible golfer but his short game was absolutely amazing. Words can't describe how good his short-game is in comparison to his handicap. 8-)

Anyway as for my game i shot 16 points on the front and 16 back. I didn't hit my 1wd well at all but i was really smashing my 3wd down the FW nicely.

The course was an absolute delight to play and i love the layout alot. If you did the design then amazing job rick. :smt038

Although the 9th hole i disliked quite alot.

Dicky did you design it? Some really great holes there. :D

So i've gone back .1 to 2.0.

Oh. Not to mention i missed a 1.5 foot putt. You should have seen it. Complete and utter BS.

It hit a pitchmark just short of the hole and then it kicked up and to the right..caught a piece of the hole, and then lipped out.........:(

And also on the 6th hole i hooked my drive left. I then tried to play an 8i below the overhanging branches and above a tree in front of them. It smashed into the branches and was never to be seen again.WTF

I played the Chook Run with Haysey this afternoon (making it his 19th-27th hole for the day ). I had an uninspiring 15 pts with only the one wipe. I feel I am still improving with the ball-striking, but was let down by my short game today. It wasn't required on the 6th, however, when I made a 20 footer for eagle. 8)

Had 35pts 18/17 today at Carbrook GC after working out my swing at the range during the week, had only 17pts 11/6 last week at Brookwater, should have had a few more but didn't take some of my putting seriously as I was mapping a few greens with the GPS :-) I putted pretty well but the greens were lightning, even more than normal, they are getting them ready for a trainee pro-am.

I have played Wynnum, Nudgee North, McLeod and Brookwater and the greens at Carbrook are so much faster, especially against Wynnum, and takes a bit of getting used to after playing somewhere else.

24/07/09, RAAF Darwin GC, Solo Nine Holes.

2/6 effective tee shots.
0/9 effective approaches.
5/7 up and down successes.
15 putts.
Score 43 nett 37 (Par 35)

I feel like my ball striking with the irons is improving each round, but the stats don't indicate that. After three putting the first two holes, the short game was really good, but I was all over the place off the tee in the windy conditions.

Next round: I am running a marathon in less than a month, so golf is low priority, however I do need to play dc68 in matchplay at some stage.

+2

Quite happy but dropped 2 in last 3 holes and had a couple of doubles.

Won A grade par event today, +3 and putted like Stevie Wonder. Used 3 wood off the tee most of the day, amazing what a difference hitting fairways makes. Hit irons nice all round, hit all par three's in reg, just didn't make a putt - lucky for my handicap so it seems.
The round also gets me into the final 8 for an honour board event, match play from here in.

Edit - was a par round, not +3 off the beater. That is not likely to happen to me ever

Played yesterday at The Old Course, St Andrews.
83 off the bat (40-43) with seven straight 5s to finish.
8/16 fairways
11 greens
39 putts!!

What a seriously amazing place! The greens are something else. They took my lunch money all day, but it was a joy being beaten up!

Played on Wednesday at North Berwick West - a one of a kind links on the Firth of Forth, east of Edinburgh. Home to the original Redan and a variation on the Biarritz green, as well as too many other cool holes to mention.

7/14 fairways
8 greens
34 putts

79 (+8 ) off the beater.

Redan was awesome. I only wish I could have played in 10 times in 10 different winds.

My understanding is that a Biarritz, to be a true Biarritz, should be a 190-230yd hole with a green set straight-on to the tee and flanked by bunkers, preferably played over a chasm or at least water.

Not only is the similar hole at NBW a par 4 of 380-odd yards, the green is set at about 30 degrees to the line of the tee.

We had a putt and a chip on it after we finished and it was a hell of a lot of fun.

37 points after 20 on the front with 2 wipes. I was one under after 4 not bad for a week of :)

I don't like the back nine much as I have 4 holes (12-15) in a row without shots that can destroy my round.

got home late from p!nk and had a fun round with jamie, shazza and graham. 29 pts.

Went back to the tp mills after burning the edges for weeks and it went well the verdict is still out on the r9

25/7 Hyatt Coolum. 37pts (20/17).

Couldn't buy a putt. Didn't tally but and easy 9 failed to drop from various distances.
Driver is working well generally hooked one OOB on the 17th but recovered for a 6 (another missed putt from inside 6 foot) - couple of duffed chips cost me on the back nine.
Unfortunately no golf next weekend due to a weekend away at Stanthorpe - too many rocks for good clubs according to my old man.

Played NB with the crew today

I felt it hit the ball average, and didnt have a fade in the bag. Jut would not turn in.

Driver slightly better than Fridays no fairway round, but still ironing out the bugs in my swing.

6 fairways, a few just off.

6 greens - thought i hit more, but a few were close

29 putts - lowest i've had in a long time. 1 x 3 putt i think

Overall 34 points (80 scratch) +8, not the best or worst i could have played, so not bad overall.

3OD hit the ball well, especially off the tee

PM had a good even par round, consistent striker of the ball.

One of the most famous Biarritz holes is the 9th at Yale. It is characterized by the huge depression in the green and they are best played as a 200-230 yard hole so that you are hitting a long 3wd or driver so that the ball lands on the front and runs up the slope. Therefore the pin has to be at the back most of the time.

130 these days, which includes a course guide and a tartan felt valuables pouch.

I was lined up by an R&A member to play with some other members, but none were around (the forecast was for Biblical rain, which never eventuated), so when I turned up they threw me straight in the first slot. I got out of the car at 11.25 and was on the 1st tee at 11.50!

The guys I was with had entered the ballot the day before and got lucky. You can book tee times well in advance, or 2, 3 and 4 balls can enter the ballot for spots the day before. Singles generally have to turn up and get in a queue, then get into the field if and when there are free pl;aces with 2 and 3 balls who have got through the ballot.

Played today at New Brighton with 3oneday and Matt3Jab. I shot a solid Even par game (38 points) which included 4 birdies, 4 bogies and 10 pars. I played well most of the day but 4, 5 and 6 i played like an idiot.

Highlights:
2nd: Pup hit a 3wd onto green in 2.
3rd: Pup hit an 8i to 10 feet and sunk putt.
4th: Joe (greenkeeper from the course) sunk a 30 footer. Matt had a nice U&D.
7th: Matt hit a very nice soft 5i draw 8 feet short left of pin. Sunk putt.
11th: Pup hit a nice 9i to 15 feet right over the pin. Sunk putt. 3od hit a shitty 8i that landed front right section of the green and it rolled to 3 feet. Sunk putt.
13th: 3od hit a 9i (i think) to 3 feet. Really nice shot. Joe hit a pw which landed just short and kicked on and went to 24cm.
16th: Nice drive by me. Sexy looking low 5i draw to 20 feet. 3od hit nice drive to 175 out. Lovely hybrid to 30 feet. Matt hit a great chip from 35 metres to 2 feet.

I really enjoyed today (apart from the rain) and was good to meet 3od and i enjoyed their company. ;)

played Willunga on Sunday and shot 88, putted really well, but missed a couple opportunities and Iron play was average at best. Drove it straight tho, had I hit some greens I honestly think I could have threatened the high 70's, but because of missed greens in regulation I was scrambling for Par all day.. Also played TaylorMade Burner w LDP ball and was quite impressed. 1 ball all day and it held up pretty good even after a few fat Irons. Didnt lose it either which was a plus..
