Look out Brisbane. The fat bastard is coming!

Just took a phone call which has me heading up there next week for a job interview. The interview is at a time of my choosing, which is pretty rare. Things are looking "quietly promising".

I might just have to nominate Wednesday and bring the clubs.

No more winter! No more winter! No more winter!

Rubbish, Henno. North-west WA is the subtropics/tropics so is much the same as Brisbane. Your comparison might work for Perth and the mid coast of WA. However it depends on who you are, I find 42 degrees in Perth much more unpleasant and uncomfortable than 32 degrees in Brisbane, having experienced both on numerous occasions.

I don't doubt that, but in general its not ridiculously humid. If you think that then you have never lived in Cairns and Darwin in the wet season.

Cairns, Townsville (and magnetic Isl.) Proserpine/Airlie Beach and Rockhampton, I have lived in and I find Brisbane on the really bad days just as bad as any of them.

Granted it is not as humidly hot each and every day as the others, but it gets up there.

I'll stick with my original opinion. I find Brisbane a hot bowl of humidity in summer. Driving an hour in any direction (other than due east) usually brings relief. But that's only my opinion. No offence intended.

Sure it gets up there some days, totally agree, however a few days as opposed to a whole wet season in the tropics hardly qualifies Brisbane as ridiculously humid. For the most part its reasonably pleasant I find.

henno

I am ambivalent about the whole issue. On the one hand it was a relatively harmless joke, but on the other hand jokes are meant to be funny and involve more than just the guy telling it.

Behind it all, it was really just a twisted game of "I spy a sociopath".

Never bothered to find out the traits of a socio until now. Bugger!

The sociopath may be an excellent actor, always appearing charming, calm, and collected. They usually have a normal or above normal intelligence level and good verbal fluency. It is these qualities that sometimes place he sociopath in leadership positions within their social groups and often make it hard to spot their "black side".

Given that I will only be paying for half a room for one night versus the cost of a drunken cab ride home it probably doesn't end up too far behind anyway.

We don't have a Champs Committee, as AndyP repeatedly points out, just a loose affiliation of volunteers who help organise stuff. So the answer to your question in the above quote is no.

Maybe. Ask just.
He didn't as far as I know, can't find a record of it. But anyway see above reply.

I'm not in the committee obviously, but here's my opinion anyway. Last year's Friday game at Pac Harbour was good and i'd be happy to go back there again. If that keeps things cleaner from a work (Horton Park) standpoint, then even better.

It isn't too much of a fuss for me from my end. It would be a conflict if I was involved too much from both sides.

I think the pro for Horton is that it is only 20-25 mins to Pelican Waters, whereas Pacific Harbour is much further. The fact that it is north of it may be a concern for some people and not for others. Out of staters can fly in to either Brisbane and get a lift, or Maroochydore and still get a lift as the airport is only 10 mins away.

I won't get my nose out of joint either way as I will be taking Friday off from work.

We travellers ask the assistance of a local to organise the Monday and Friday games.
You have the access and knowledge of availability to make it happen and we do not.

So please someone step up and start the 1st Tee thread and we'll see you there.

It looked like a nice day for a round at Peanut Hills when I drove past at around 7.30am, Dot.

In the past 4 years I have had 7 jobs, have voted for Peter Slipper, and lived at 3 addresses. Thankfully the uncertainty has dropped off over the last year, although the bride has had a bad run with jobs too.
