Was an awesome drive. Winning with a drive through penalty is unreal. First Aussie since 1981 too, long time coming. Also puts him well in contention for the championship. Formula 1 is getting interesting again with different teams winning.

Webber is from Queanbeyan. No doubt he would have done all of his training when he was a teenager, trying to get away from the Qbn police down Monaro St (no doubt doing burnouts in a Torana).

Awesome work. He had so much pace early. Loved Brundle's commentry, when the penalty was announced he pretty much said Webber was done, even when he came out right near the front of the field Brundle was saying how he has to stop again, didn't seem to click that everyone around him hadn't stopped either at that point.

He had a dig at his critics at the Press Conference too. Noted his doubters and sort of told them to look at the results.

I flicked over for the end and saw him grab his win. The cameras were on his dad waiting for some sign of emotion and relief - yet his dad was a stoic dead bat and gave them nothing.

I missed Flintoff getting out at around the same time and it wasn't till half an hour after I saw how plumb Broad was first ball.

Webber's further comments on having been in 100 odd races but not having had 100 chances to win was a good summary of where he has been prior to now.
