View Full Version : Do I need a new driver?

Played in the local 9 hole comp today, and noticed before teeing off on the 4th hole my beloved R9 has a big ding in it. Closer inspection reveals there is actually a crack at the bottom of the hollow. (The pic doesn't show this.)

I can't think how this happened. I vaguely remember dropping my bag when taking it out of the ute a couple of days ago. Didn't seem a big enough fall to do any damage.

Anyway, I didn't notice any funny noises or any difference in performance. My drive on the last hole was actually longer than I've hit there for quite some time.

What should I do?

I've seen this before ... many times.

TM drivers tend to crack when too much felt pen is applied to the sole.

it can be fixed though, by simply dunking the clubhead in honey for 48 hours

Forgot to mention this is a serious thread, but it's not really an R9.

Definitely something you should try, some say it's a wives tale but a few here believe it.

Seriously Mike, hard as it would be for you to let the R9 go. If you want to trial some different drivers. Let me know...

You mean my Superquad TP that you won't give back?

And besides, you're the one with X-flex driver & 6.5 irons, not me. ;)

Bah. All my clubs are ladies flex. There just shaft labels, you can buy them to suit whatever flex you want. Wait till you see the 7.5 stickers I've got coming:shock:

I'll bring the tp tomorrow...

Hmm, I've just figured out which driver you mean. Mike might like it:wink:

The real moral of this story is that TM make crap clubs :)

Oh and the TS are cast shovels so they are virtually indestructible. I could throw the friggin things off a cliff and still play with them.

You need a new TM driver.

It's the latest and greatest model, guaranteed to find more fairways and increase your distance by 25%.
