Entries close 10th of July

Rules
* Best Gross score per hole for your chosen course.
* Eclectic scoring runs from July 09 to Dec 09
* If you play more than one course often enough, multiple entries are allowed (this will mean that you will need to buy multiple lotto tickets at the conclusion of the comp)
* Winner will be decided by the amount under par, less handicap (1/3 of official handicap @ December 31 2009) e.g Player A scores 12 under, less 1/3 of handicap 15 (5) Eclectic score = -12 less 5 = -17

* All players must post the Pars of each hole initially and any gross scores.
* Players can post updates for their Eclectic scores as they improve on any current score per hole.

Prize
* All participants will procure a lotto ticket for a designated draw sometime in early Jan 10.
* Ticket must be scanned and posted in this thread.
* Eclectic winner will receive 50% of the prize pool.
* Procurer of winning ticket will receive 20% (if not winner of Eclectic comp).
* Remaining participants will get a share of remaining 30%.

There has been some discussion around the types golf formats allowed under the Eclectic comp.
The following are allowable (official club competitions):
- Stroke (and multiples of i.e. 2 ball)
- Par (and multiples of i.e. 2 ball)
- Stableford (and multiples of i.e. 2 ball)
This list is set for the moment.

If anything is not clear or needs updating let me know.

can't do that if your comps vary in the tees they use. only vs. par

wipe = no score. if you have any wipes come the end of the year it should't matter anyways.

Just realised I've still got a bogey on 5 (210m par 3). I've hit this green twice in recent rounds and 3-putted it both times :roll:. The 2nd is also a legitimate birdie chance (short par 4). Other than that, I can't see too many opportunities to improve on my current score. :?

I left a 6ft birdie putt short in the heart on the 4th on Saturday. I doubt I'll get that chance again any time soon :roll:

Update, I might even get to play a game this weekend and update my score. Well there is hope anyway.

A number of people have proposed some minor enhancements to the way the Eclectic is conducted. I invite all suggestions and will consider incorporating them in next years event, if the demand is there that is.

Chappy, my suggestion is to make it over a calender year (or Ozgolf year).

I was thinking the same thing myself.

I'm giving myself every opportunity on the 4th. The last 4 times I've played it I've had 5, 5, 5 and 6 irons in and hit the green once.

Today on the 8th, I duck hooked my drive 140minto deep kack. Pretty tough to eagle when you've got to hole out from 300m.

There is a force field around the 13th green that deflects my approach left of the green, no matter what club I hit.

My sincerest apologies for the delay in the update. I had to recreate the spreadsheet from scratch because the one I had on file corrupted f#$k -it.

It is extremely tight at the top with only a shot or 2 seperating the first 5 players, exciting next few weeks for those in the running.

Yes I am but in a friendly kind of way. I am in the same boat, not too many scores at home and it looks as though I may not get to better it unless I squeeze a game in on the 18th which is highly unlikely. Good luck on Sat though Chappy.

This is not BS...I had 6 birdies last week, 4 today...eagled the first a couple of months ago from 150m, eagled the 18th a few weeks ago, 5th eagle about 6 weeks ago and 3rd was a couple of weeks before that...16th a few times (only 470m).

Sorry for the threadjack, just got me thinking and when I worked it out I just wanted to broadcast :)

Have you thought of doing a reverse eclectic? - worst score on each hole, lowest 'worst' score wins :) - have tried that before and it was much fun.

We've read the bandit thread, and now aware of their tricks to keep a higher handicap. ;)

whenever my game seemed lost i always mentally said i was playing for the eclectic, even though i had no chance of winning the daily comp , it seemed to make the remaining holes more enjoyable knowing all was not lost

Sounds good to me. Can we confirm what type of ticket/spend is required?. From memory a first level quick pick was around $7.40 last time I bought one.
