View Full Version : Monday - Post Champs round, Redcliffe GC, 9:12a.

Bruce
23rd June 2009, 02:24 PM
So where will we go on Monday for the real stayers?

Somewhere between Pelican Waters and Brisbane is probably best as I think I will fly in and out of the capital.

Beerwah? Perhaps Nudgee so we can jump straight on the plane afterwards?

Suggestions please.

I'll should be good for the Monday as per normal. Probably pit stop at the in-laws Monday night.

Northlakes?

Northlakes would be good as I have not played there before.

jaybam
23rd June 2009, 06:32 PM
great northlakes. Somewhere a bit easier after pac harbour and two rounds at pelican waters would be a bit better. Especially after the expense of balls at the other three games :(

AndyP
23rd June 2009, 06:58 PM
Redcliffe is better.

shavey
23rd June 2009, 08:34 PM
Well a possible round at Twin Waters or Hyatt could be arranged...

Bruce
23rd June 2009, 09:02 PM
How far from Brisbane airport are they Shavey?

AndyP
23rd June 2009, 09:04 PM
1 3/4 hours maybe.... They are further north than Pelican Waters.

Even if you dont do it on champs weekend, you're always welcome to come out for a hit Tim. I picked up jono from Bris airport the other day and it was about 45min (good run).

Do it, Tim. ;)

Brookwater is a must play course. It's not in its tip top state at the moment due to recent flooding, but it was still very good compared to other courses. The layout is magnificent. Australia's version of Augusta, IMO.

I like the course so much that I'm thinking of moving there some time in the future. 8)

Jarro

Redcliffe is better.

Yes i have to agree here.

For value for money Redcliffe is one of the best courses around S.E.QLD. It's nowhere near as penal a course as the Champs/Pre-Champs venues ... so might be a nice relaxing round to finish off on ;)

Bruce, it's on the way back from Pelican Waters to Brissy airport too, about 30 minutes from the airport to be exact.

I'd be keen to play there if we can gather enough interest.

AndyP .. do you know if they have an open comp on Mondays ?

AndyP

AndyP .. do you know if they have an open comp on Mondays ?
Huh?
I found post 3 helpful.

Comp on Mon/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri, but it is the one and the same comp, that is, I assume that there is only one winner over the four days.

Jarro
24th June 2009, 06:53 AM
Sweet, thanks for that (i should've read back further)

Bruce, i believe a few good reviews of Redcliffe G.C can be found at ISG too.

Bruce
24th June 2009, 08:48 AM
As interesting as Twin Waters or Hyatt sound they might be a bit far out of the way to fit in with the trip.

So I think we are down to Redcliffe or Nothlakes then.

Grunt
24th June 2009, 04:53 PM
Either will be fine for me too.

PeteyD
25th June 2009, 12:46 PM
Northlakes is penal. Redcliffe would be a much nicer post champs round.

Any further Ideas/Decisions on this game yet? Working out where I have to stay Sunday night. Might crash at god parents at Caloundra.

Any Ideas or Bookings guys, still trying to organise my plans.

shazza_rs
19th September 2009, 07:54 PM
I'm happy with any course. Redcliffe, beerwah are both good options. I'd probably sway against North lakes as our golf games will probably already have taken a beating over the weekend. We can play nudgee if that suits. I'm sure one of us Nudgee members could organise that however, i think both beerwah and redcliffe are better value for money.

AndyP
19th September 2009, 08:41 PM
Redcliffe has a Monday comp. The other two don't.

This any closer to finalised? Just starting to work out my accomodation and the like for after the champs and the trip back home.

Bruce
25th September 2009, 06:43 AM
Shall we call it then?

REDCLIFFE.

(unless something happens that we can't get on)

AndyP
25th September 2009, 07:14 AM
Assuming Redcliffe, and based on the posts in this thread, here are the peeps that are interested in playing:

1. Bruce
2. Haysey
3. Grunt
4. Courty
5. jarro
6. Shaz
7. AndyP (pencil)
8. jaybam ?

I'd be keen but I don't know if I can do 4 rounds in a weekend, and whether I can get to/from Redcliffe. I might yet drop the Pacific Harbour round, as it makes for an expensive weekend. I guess I should let the missus know about all of this at some stage too.

AndyP, it might pay to contact the club soon if we wanna try and get a big group on the Monday

Guys, I haven't booked yet, but I just called to make some enquiries.

Apparently the Veteran's comp is from 7:30a to 9:30a, so we would have to book our groups for either 7a or before, or after the Vets. I was warned that the Vets are very fast (2 3/4 hr rounds) and grumpy, and will get up you if you hold them up.

Interstaters, what do you want to do?

PeteyD
19th October 2009, 03:33 PM
No way I'd make it before 7:30. HAve to be after the vets if I am to play

Grunt

Does not worry me but may do those that have to get flights home on Monday afternoon.

Bruce
19th October 2009, 06:17 PM
Kev and I are booked on an 18:00 flight. Can others that know how long it takes to get from here to there etc. make the decision on what time is appropriate for that please.

Kev and I are booked on an 18:00 flight. Can others that know how long it takes to get from here to there etc. make the decision on what time is appropriate for that please.
You'll make it easy for a 6pm flight, with the later option.

AndyP
20th October 2009, 09:44 AM
So Courty and Haysey, do you have an opinion on this?

jarro, how long does it take to drive from Redcliffe GC to the Airport at 4:30p in the afternoon? It would be under half an hour easily wouldn't it?

just
20th October 2009, 09:52 AM
Not jarro, but half an hour would be about right.

Eag's
20th October 2009, 09:54 AM
AP, you would make it to the airport comfortably under 30mins even at that time of the day.

haysey
20th October 2009, 10:29 AM
Just checked. Courty and I have a 4.40pm flight and I'll have to drop off the car that I'm stealing at Toowong.

Best guess is its still doable. Toowong is pretty close to the airport anyway isn't it?

AndyP
20th October 2009, 10:31 AM
No, Toowong is not very close to the airport, particularly in terms of fighting traffic.

haysey
20th October 2009, 10:41 AM
Ok. Let me check with Courty, I'm not averse to changing flights.

Having said that. A 9.30 teetime would see us finished by 1.30ish. Still not enough travel time?

haysey
20th October 2009, 10:54 AM
Duh. Ignore that rubbish above:roll:. That was my sisters last address.

She now lives in Nundah and I'm guessing that's a hell of a lot closer to the airport than Toowong...

AndyP
20th October 2009, 11:00 AM
Yep, that's more on the way. All calculations should be done off a worst case basis though.

4:40p flight <- get there 45mins before <- at airport 3:55p <- 30 min Drive from Nundah <- 3:25p <- 30 min drive from Redcliffe <- 2:55p <- possible 5hr round <- 9:55p.

Tee off will be 9:30a best case. If everything goes pear shaped, you might be pushing it close, with little time for socialising or saying hi to Sis. Then again, maybe not. Have a think about it anyway.

haysey
20th October 2009, 11:37 AM
Thanks Andy, count us in. We'll be fine...

AndyP
20th October 2009, 11:42 AM
Okay, I'll go for three groups at 9:30a+.

Grunt
20th October 2009, 11:48 AM

Jarro
20th October 2009, 03:02 PM
9:30 is fine for me also

AndyP
20th October 2009, 03:02 PM
3 groups booked for 9:12a, 9:18a and 9:24a, which is a little better than what the pro shop indicated. If you want a cart, then let me know so I can book them too.

we need to know now.

Who's organising this rabble anyway ?

PeteyD
20th October 2009, 04:06 PM
How long will it take me to drive from the resort at Pelican?

AndyP
20th October 2009, 04:11 PM
An hour maybe. You should be leaving a little bit after the worst traffic. I've found that driving through Deception Bay and Redcliffe to get to the golf club can be a real shit with lights, roundabouts, etc.

Jarro, do you know a better way? Is it worth going all the way to the Gateway and then back over the Hornibrook Bridge?

Jarro

Although the Gateway can get a little slow at the Deagon overpass at that time of day.

hi guys, it seems this is all planned and booked but aren't you playing Redcliffe on the Thursday?

Silly question, but did anyone consider playing Caloundra on the Monday?

It's 10 minutes from Pelican Waters and a very enjoyable track.

PeteyD
2nd November 2009, 06:56 PM
I'd like that!!

AndyP
2nd November 2009, 07:02 PM
I think Caloundra is a rip-off (around $40). People liked the option of playing in a comp, being closer to the airport and I don't think there are too many that are doing the repeat at Redcliffe anyway.

Plus our game was organised first.

But if that's what the punters want, then I can investigate.

Moe Norman
2nd November 2009, 07:06 PM
it is around $40 from memory, not really a rip off though.

I'm not playing anyway, just heard there was issues for a few making it to Redcliffe from Pelican - not an issue in this case.

Jarro
2nd November 2009, 07:11 PM
I'd rather Redcliffe than Caloundra.

But hey, that's just me.

Moe Norman
2nd November 2009, 07:26 PM
Redcliffe is definitely the better track Jarro, I was merely mentioning the convenience factor.

Jarro
2nd November 2009, 07:28 PM

Moe Norman

I thought most of the interstaters would be heading back to Brissy for departing flights anyway.

Redcliffe is on the way.

Thanks guys :)

Talk about wheels falling off on the back 9! Couldn't do anything right from 10 to 16 - sprays, lost balls flubbed irons. Then something clicked on 17 and 18 to get some points back.

It also helps Reddie is a hell of an easier course!

It was another great day with the company and the course.

Guaranteed to have a proper AGU handicap next year...
