Well im trying to organize an Ozgolf day for sydney.

It will be played on the 12th of July and i am not sure of the venue yet but it will most likely be a course in SW sydney as that is convenient for most of us.

Simply because i haven't played there for awhile.

I honestly don't care about the venue. Twas a suggestion.:)

Also try Antill Park, they are pretty easy to get big groups on? Not sure how many you will get to play there though?

ParMaster
18th June 2009, 07:58 PM
Im not a fan of Antill Park.

Campbelltown golf club is an option. I quite like the course. (Awaiting abuse)

Suggestions anybody? Put your name down aswell. :)

Also Andrew if your thinking of putting your name down, then please do it. Would be nice to meet you.

Andrew is not much of a weekend golfer Puppet.

Fishman Dan
18th June 2009, 09:41 PM
Put me in pencil.

I'm hoping to send the bride away to Brisbane that weekend as a treat - not sure who gets the better end of the bargain ;)

I'll offer to keep our daughter here so she can have a girls weekend with her sister, but there's every chance that she will want to take her.

ParMaster
18th June 2009, 09:52 PM
Ok that'd be cool if you made it.

What course would be your preferance if you did play?

Andrew

No preference - I would just be happy to get out there and play! Haven't played for 5 or 6 weeks, and doesn't look like I'll be able to play by this date.... I could be a tad rusty ;)

never to play there ever again !

ParMaster
19th June 2009, 03:14 PM
Well it ain't looking too bad so far. Anybody else want to play?

Of course i'd like some suggestions of courses so everybody is happy :)

Southwest sydney works for Grunt and Andrew so that looks like the area we'd be playing.

That is probably the most likely venue at the current stage unless some other suggestions are made. (Hint Hint)

markTHEblake
24th June 2009, 06:11 PM
I will have to sit and wait on this one, as i cant commit this early. The logistics of playing at Campbelltown at 11.30 dont work too well for me anyway because of other people i want to hang out with that day, and also the bloody woman booked flights without baggage again. If it was earlier in the morning or later and closer to the City i would be getting more excited about annoying Fish, but its too hard.

Oddly enough, it would be easier for me to fit in golf in Wollongong than Sydney on Sunday. Maybe while Jono is golfing i can raid that garage of his.

ParMaster

Grunt

What u think?

Grunt
28th June 2009, 02:44 PM
So what are you saying that you booked your mate to make 9 or that you have booked 8 and left 2 out?

Coffs said he would play if we had the numbers but did not want to play if there were going to be odd numbers. MTB basically has said he is a no. Make a decision and live with the consequences.

ParMaster
28th June 2009, 03:04 PM
Hmmm. The guy in the pro-shop said the sheet should be out today but it isn't. He said to ring back on tuesday so thats when ill make the booking.

Grant....Grant will be playing with us. So it will be 10 people in total.

Should i re-do the groups or change them slightly to include Coffs and Grant?

ParMaster... can you please post asap. It's an hour-plus drive and I don't want to be tee'ing off after midday (after 11:30am really...).

We had a shocker yesterday at my club - the field was 30 minutes late and the last groups would have finished in darkness. It was a royal pain in the arse.

Are we getting times today or what? My mate is asking me questions that you said would be answered last week. No good organising a day if you cant give details a week out. It might sound harsh but some people here have to plan.

ParMaster
5th July 2009, 11:46 AM

Well i did put our names down like 5 days ago but they keep "refusing" to tell me our times.

Grunt
5th July 2009, 11:55 AM
Maybe because they normally don"t take names until a week before, after the members have their's booked and now the slots are not there. They are trying to cover their arses for letting you think you booked earlier this week.

Thanks mate... look forward to it. Well, the first 9 holes - after yesterday's first round for 2 months I kinda tightened up after that ;)

PM,

I for one am grateful for your efforts. It can be a very frustrating experience trying to organise an Ozgolf Day in NSW.

Guys I'm pulling out.

Sunday 11:30+ is too late for me. It means leaving home around 10am and not getting back until 7pm, and weekend is the best family time for me. I was happy with south-west Sydney but not Country NSW ;)

It's 30 mins too far for me to come to make it home in reasonable time. Sorry ParMaster - thanks for your effort.

:cry::cry::cry:

Well that makes a 3 and a group of 4.

If anyone wants to play let me know by tommorrow or i'll ring the club to let them open up that spot to someone else.

Again

I wouldn't cancel him out until you get there, you never know who'll you end up with.

At worst, Dan's club gets a letter and he gets in the shit. No big deal really.

Does that sort of thing ever happen? If Campbelltown rang Casino GC I don't think they'd be too concerned....

3+ days notice should be plenty, if you have already cancelled of course ;) Let me know if I need to ring them myself tomorrow!

So anyone else going to drop out, we have to keep our great Sydney OzGolf record. Start with heaps and end up with one group on Sunday.

I know myself and Mark are definites.

jimandr

I thought Jim was going to give up golf for a month ... ;)

I probably will, depending on the result of this game, and if two others dropped out to leave us a 5, I would make Grunt's wishes come true and make it a four.

As it is, I'll try to spend some time on the practice fairway tomorrow, and see if I can reach 30 points on Sunday without hitting any shanks. It is far too much to aim for a game without a 3-putt as well, though.

Is Dans spot taken? I have a player on Standby, cant make him wait till tomorrow so if I don't hear otherwise I will have to tell him the spot is not there @ 7 tonight. I Don't want him to turn up and not have a spot.

ParMaster
11th July 2009, 03:27 PM

Grunt
12th July 2009, 05:28 PM
Thanks for the game Andrew & Puppet.

Campbelltown was in ok nick and we got round very quick. No real highlights, played ok but putted poorly with quite a few 3 putts. Who knows what I would have scored if i could have putted even just a little better.

Results

Grunt 36
Puppet 33
Jimandr ?
Andrew ?
Mark W ?
Cam ?
Puppet's Dad?

I won scratch yes but Grant won nett.

I didn't play great but i hit some nice shots here and there. Grunt played especially well and hit many nice shots but his putting was absolute horrid today...He deserved and played well enough to get 40 points or so.

Andrew
12th July 2009, 09:11 PM
I think both you & Grant suffered at the hands of Campbelltown's poorly maintained greens.

Yeah had a few putts not drop, but shit happens.

jimandr

To fill in the gaps, I had a glorious 22, Puppet's Dad 18, but there were a few "I can't be bothered to hole out for a point" in that. The other two guys didn't score much better.

My desire to avoid a 3 putt lasted until the 2nd, and my avoidance of shanks until the 3rd shot at the 3rd, but I didn't hit any others, so that is a very small positive. I'm still going to spend the next three weekends away from golf courses to try and forget the bad habits. Either that, or a lesson.

While the course was a bit soft, I thought it was OK, and despite my 38 putts, I didn't notice much wrong with the greens.

Despite the poor quality of the golf, I still enjoyed my day.
