You've got me interested now, Vegas.

I noticed from that scoreboard that Kaye has now finished at -20, so that just leaves the big Easy. [-o<

All over red rover. Apples wins. Scott had -8 for the low round of the day.

You'd have to say Singh choked with +1 though.

18 being a par 5, I'd say he was going for broke.

i watched it today on ESPN.

Appleby played well, but really Els and Singh blew it big time  Els missed the fairway at 18 ( which is around 80 yards wide) ... hit the cart path, and bounded into the 4 foot high rough. All 3 rounds previous he hit the fairway dead center and made birdie. VJ had a bad case of the hooks halfway through his round and found a lot of tee shots were left with no chance of reaching the greens in reg.

Kaye was 1 shot behing at 18. Hit drive down the center, second shot finished just short of the green in 2 (660 yard par 5) he then had a simple chip to set up a birdie and a tie for the lead.... but he chunked his chip way short, and made par.

Great win to Appleby, but he really did get a few lucky breaks from his playing partners.

Apples had a 74 (par 73) on day 1 and then 22 under for the final 3 rounds - he needed a few things to go his way for that kind of comeback.

All the Aussies picked up good cash towards this year's money list and Stuie gets the chance to 3-peat at Kapalua next year - the money should buy a few baby clothes in the coming weeks as Ashley prepares to give birth.

I think Appleby is a guy that nobody would begrudge success to. He's a down to earth kind of bloke who has had to go through some pretty rough times.

I'm glad to see he's so looking forward to the birth of his first child. If he's a man, he'll cry like a baby at the birth...

Stuart Appleby's come-from-behind victory on Sunday was sparked by a spectacular eagle on the sixth hole. After driving the 398-yard par 4, Appleby made good on the opportunity with the eagle putt.

Appleby's eagle on par-4 No. 6
Stroke one 389-yard drive reaches green
Stroke two Drains eagle putt from 12' 7''

Adam Scott however dropped 1 spot to be number 12.

I had a look at the points and now I am confused. :?

Anyone care to explain the points ranking, so I don't have to look it up? For example, why is Els not above Tiger, when he has more points?

cazandpaul

Ernie (and everyone else) plays a lot more rounds than Tiger and thus his final score is less.

Under the world ranking system a minimum of 40 events is used over a rolling 2 year period and Tiger generally sits on this minimum - players such as VJ and Ernie can be anywhere from 55-60.

I've often wondered if Tiger played an extra 10 tounaments a year whether his ranking would improve or decline - I would suggest it would decline given the extra demands on his body and the fact he would play a lot more of the less prestigeous tournaments where lesser points are available for world rankings.

Strong Putting won the tournament:

1. He made putts of a combined 383 feet, 5 inches, which tied for the most in the field, last week. In 2004, it was a tournament-leading 415 feet, 7 inches.

2. He had 14 putts of 10 feet or more last week. A year ago, it was 10.

3. He tied for second in total putts with 116 last week. In 2004, it was a tournament-low 110.

4. He made 8 of 13 putts from 10 to 15 feet last week. A year ago, it was 6 of 13.

once Nike has developed a putter that Tiger likes, he'll be good to go...

I was interested to hear Tiger say how hard he found the greens to putt on because of how slow they where..... Makes me think if we had greens smooth and quick all the time, would we struggle as much.... It's got to be easier to swing and keep the putter head on line when only swinging it back 2", rather than a Foot..
