Here's a few pics of a brilliant experience I had getting Kari Lajosi to make a putter I designed. The pics include my original design, Kari's CAD design, the block halfway through milling, the completed putter, the grip and headcover and a pic of my putter next to the 2 designs which inspired it (a Bettinardi BB10 and and a TP Mills Spalding TPM6).

Kari was extremely patient and obliging throughout the process and the end result is one of the softest putters I've ever felt. It was cnc milled from carbon steel, given a gun metal finish, loft 5*, lie 69*, half a shaft offset, .335" tip size, 330 grams and 34" long. The "Gentle Ben" stamping is a reference to my nickname as a junior when I could actually putt! Kari has named the model the BM3.

Oh, and when I picked it up I sampled a couple of mallet designs going to a couple of members here - you are gonna love them!

How does it putt compared to Scotties, Pings and Bettinardis?

Although I love my Pings and respect Scotty's great putters I prefer Bettinardis over those 2 brands.

This putter is softer than any Betti I've tried (or any milled, non-insert putter I've used). The attention to detail (the radius work on the neck, stamping precision, milling patterns) are much tidier than any Cameron I've used or seen (understandable, as Scotty has most of his putters mass-produced off site). It also came in about $5,000 cheaper than what I'd have to pay for a custom Cameron (not that he would ever take a custom order like this). The balance on this one is similar to a Ping Redwood which I own but it has a much nicer feel off the face.

So, in a comparison of looks, feel, price and balance this one wins on all counts.

Work of art noodles!!!

Lets just hope the romance remains even after a bad putting round with "Gentle Ben"

Looks great noodles, im looking forward to trying out my new Lajosi this arvo.

I second what you said about his patience and understanding, Kari is one of the nicest blokes i've EVER dealt with (not just with golf equipment) and he's always quick to respond to questions and keep you updated with how everything is going.

I'll have no hesitations to recommend him everytime i play and get asked about the new putter :D

I would have to agree Noodles. I have a couple of Lajosi's and they are the most pure " Flatsticks " that I have ever rolled, no question.

Great looking putter Ben...love the name BM3 (Ben Mc 3). Had a quiet chuckle thinking of an Aussie version of the Bettinardi BEM and the scrutiny it will be given by the TP Mills and Bettinardi followers. Great stuff.:D

Yeah Ray, some guys just love twisting their own knickers in a knot! I honestly wasn't even thinking of the BEM when I was designing it and when you break it down there are a number of differences - length, width, neck type, neck placement, flange cavity size, raised toe, face milling, etc.

I've also gone out of my way to give credit to the two putters that inspired it to avoid any of the grief that Cameron cops for not acknowledging the obvious influences of his designs.

You're right, Kari named the model after my initials and the fact that it was the 3rd version of his CAD design that we settled on.

Wait till you try her Ray - she's a bewdy.

I'm guessing one of those was mine. It's in transit at the moment, I just wish I had some non-cored greens to try it out on this weekend.
