Anyone played in this? Is it worth a trip down from Brisbane?

It's a nice course with ginormous greens It's very tough from the back markers, especially with the wind going.
It's worth doing at least once.

We had big days there for the back marker days in 2004 (http://www.ozgolf.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1036) & 2005 (http://www.ozgolf.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3448).

Played with one of the club's committee a couple of years ago at Bonville GC, he mentioned that they were changing their tifdwarf greens to tifeagle. Did this happen?

Did I confuse you dc...this chap said OSGC had budgeted $60k per green. The original tifdwarf greens were laid in 1972 by Cliff Meredith (ex super of the Lakes Golf Club); the green's were starting to mutate and the greens foundations required major renovations (so I was told).

i have not played there for a while but they have started replacing green complexes.

back then New ones are the first, fifth (double water carry par 4?) and 6th (par 3?) so its possible they were in a program of replacing them all

Great course, well worth the drive down from Brissy :)

I worked in Lismore for 4 months in 2004. During that time, I played Ocean Shore 3 times including the black marker challenge. Great course. They used to give away a dozen balls to anyone who shot their handicap on the back marker day. They put the pins in some tricky positions too.

I think it's supposed to be the first resort style course in Australia. Pat Boone used to own it?

I thought Kooralbyn was the first one. So I guess it is the first still operating!

Kooralbyn was the first. Ocean Shores was one of the first real estate/golf club concepts in Australia with US investors (I believe).

Better ring ahead - the place is likely to be underwater right now.

The BMC is the last Friday of each month, with a champions event held annually.

Careful of that 2nd hole...you can rack up a number.

Thanks for the feedback on the course. It's a tough call as it lands on the same day as the Bribie Island old course back tee day. I enjoy playing at Bribie although I've never had a decent round there.
