We're all waiting for you to blame the ball, Mr. Titleist.

Didn't the brother have knee surgery this year? Give him a bit of time to recover.

Also, the fact that he is a horrible putter doesn't help things.

Hey Tiger had knee surgery too and I did not see him swapping balls. I blame steve rixon.

VJ made some changes to his swing recently. I was reading an article in GOLF Magazine and it went through a series of pictures showing the improvements. A bloke that plays comp at Wembly tells me it looks really unnatural. I used to like the look of his swing. Perhaps the changes he has made work on paper but not on the course??

Maybe he had 10 million reasons to start the year sluggish.

Vijay's swing is always a work in progress for him. He is a tinkerer and as he teaches himself, I expect it is harder to be as critical.

He has always had a putting problem.

Perhaps age is starting to catch up with him.

age has nothing to do with it, have a look at all the champion golfers who continued at their peak performance levels past the age of 42-43.

Here is a list of them.

Might be another reason there as well..and I dont think he can win again on tour, well not an event with a powerful field say like Quail hollow.. might go close on one of the lesser tour events, but he won't win against top 10 company again for mine..

Nice try Titleist man, but thats a pathetically small list.

Bernhard Langer hasnt won anything since he was 40, just like virtually every other leading golfer that hits 40

So the best you can come up with is Kenny Perry, a golfer who never actually hit his straps until his mid 40's and seems to get better every year. So Kenny has broken the mould.

The only other exception has been Vijay himself who improved and peaked in his early 40's

face facts, Pro golfers peak in their mid 30's and then go downhill, and at around 43 the fade away rapidly biding their time until they are young again at 50.

dwayne, how much better do you reckon Tigers record would be if he had continued to play Titleist balls from 2000 onwards instead of Nike balls??

Couples has won once since 1998, Dwayne, you f**king retard. And that was six years ago when he was 43.

And Calc has won two individual events since 2002... a far cry from his 5 wins from 89-92. Yep, he's really hitting his straps.

thanks for the kind words Scott! I don't think winning is everything, there are plenty of guys playing well in their 40's.

Scottt
4th May 2009, 05:48 PM
You were asked to name them and you came up with two guys who have hardly done well after the age of 43.

So name us all these guys who are doing better than Vijay has in his 40s...

Vijay since 40th b'day

22 wins
1 major
1 WGC
2 Fedex Cup playoff event wins

Vijay since 43rd b'day

6 wins
1 WGC
2 Fedex playoff wins
Bay Hill and Merc Champ wins - two of the strongest non-major fields...

I await your presentation of a significant number of better post-40 and post-43 resumes than that. Or even one.

The obvious candidate - Kenny Perry - has 10 wins since turning 40 and 6 wins since turning 43, with only a Bay Hill and a Memorial among them of note.

Mate the original post asked for what's wrong with Vijay. He is an obvious legend of the game but is having a rough start to 2009. I don't think he all of a sudden got old.

Scottt
4th May 2009, 06:04 PM
Indeed, though it was amusing to see you quickly rush out he excuses when the torch was turned onto Adam Scott.

Vijay is coming back from surgery, with injury and is an old man. He's second in all-time money winners and despite his terrible season - in your words - so far, he is still in the top 125, despite playing about 25% less events than many others.

So we popped the Langer, Calc and Freddie bubbles. They haven't done dick since they were 42-43. That is the main point. You. Are. Full. Of. Shit.

Run us through Pete Senior's scintilating post-43 resume. Tallwoods Pro-Am on there anywhere?

Peter Senior is an old Keperra boy and Dwayne was a junior at Keperra, Scottty. I am pretty sure that Peter Senior overtook Greg Norman as a the leading money winner on the Aust tour after winning the Aust PGA in 2003 and the Qld Closed in 2004. He was out for a spell when he recovered from foot surgery (had to have bones broken and reset in both feet) to repair damaged caused by wearing unsuitable footwear through his earlier career. He still puts in a good showing in all the events he enters and will give them something to consider when he gets to the senior tour. In his earlier days early 1990's he tried out for the USPGA tour but left it in favour of Great Briton which he absolutely loved. His dad hails from over there and I suspect that he had family he could visit.:)

dwayne obviously thinks VJ is missing the Pro V1x.

Dwayne, Vijay has had surgery and is getting pretty old. Recovery time will be much longer than say, Tiger Woods, who is far younger and...... also the greatest player of all time.

I have no idea mate but I have seen his name on the leader board alot in recent years where others in his era have not even been close. His dad is approaching his 90's and still gets around like a spring chicken. He tried to flog me his new car (that Pete bought him) when we crossed paths at the polling booth of the recent Qld election. So I guess it is in the genes.:)

Raz,

PS might be a champion bloke, but he was a journeyman tour pro outside Aus, and that may well be flattering him. Using him in any argument to play down the achievements of Vijay Singh is laughable

PeteyD: I agree wholeheartedly. ****tard it is!

Sorry Scottt if I gave you the wrong impression, I was purely giving a few details about Pete that is not public knowledge. VJ doesn't have to prove anything, his record speaks for itself, Masters Champ, world no 1, Fed-ex champ etc. etc. - the guy is a legend.

No, but it's easier and quicker than the full version.
