View Full Version : ..... and there I was .... looking for a new putter.

I had never felt comfortable with my putter over the last 2-3 years I've had it. I decided to poke around a few of the golf stores & see what was on offer.

I was curious about the Taylor Made Monza. Anyway, I walked into a Golf World last Saturday. I tried out the Taylor Made & was impressed ... but then ... there it was ... my future putter. Mizuno Bettinardi Black Carbon 1 (BC1)

Aint it purdy!!

The head weight felt great. Feels soft as butter but gets the ball moving well. It won the 'putt off' contest with the Taylor Made. No comparison in a 'feel' test.

Model -> BC1 Loft-> 4° Lie -> 71° Shaft Length -> 34" Head Weight -> 343g Swing Weight -> D6

Does anyone here happen to play one?

I've been putting like a champion on the lounge room carpet this week. Can't wait for Saturday. It should be just as easy? Shouldn't it? :mrgreen:

I had a BC3 a little while ago (now in Haysey's House of Sin). It was good, but sat a little closed to my eye, and the no-insert face felt a little harsher than my Yes!. I dare say that the closed face thing was partly to do with the mallet shaped head.

I saw Mickelson's Odyssey putter that he was playing at the Masters had a yellow & black grip. I had to do a double take b/c at first glance I thought he was playing with a Mizuno Bettinardi.

See I took a double take because I thought it was a Yes! grip

His website says it's an Odyssey White Hot XG 9. Unfortunately, it didn't help him when putting for eagle on that hole in the last round.

If I disagreed, I could be accused of being biased. As if. ;)

Just knowing what you are talking about should be enough proof of some form of closet homosexuality.

I see yours (BC6) is a long neck version. Comments/feedback about that compared to shorter neck BC1?

Someone answer this question.

What would be the difference be between a 450 dollar putter and a 100 dollar putter that are the same style (anser) and they both have the same specifications? I mean they still do the same job which is start the ball off straight.

Am i right in that as long as the specs are the same there is no difference (except placebo) or am i way off?

Here is a better example- the difference between a SC D009 (US $17,000) and a SC ss 009 (US$1,500). Both are identical except one is made from damascene steel and the other stainless steel. There is little difference in how they both putt, in fact the ss may putt better. Go figure.:)
