Played in a comp with Nudgee, Tezza, Wayne today and had a whole 30points  just a warm up for the 8th :D

Everybody had there good holes and bad 8) 3 out of 4 in the water on the 16th  Nudgee had 3 wipes on the back nine for 18  Tezza had 2 birds in the first 4 holes 8)

For those playing on the 8th....DON'T go in the ROUGH on the right hand side of one    it's thick

Played at Bayview with Stu & Brad - thanks Jono for organising!

I really like this course - however, every time I play I make a mess of things :? Had a very measly 23 points, beaten out by Brad on 25. Stu played great with 36 points.

I think some more practice will be in order before I try and tame the place  It didn't help that we've just started doing Pilates in the morning - starting yesterday - every muscle I know (& some I didn't know I had) were sore!

Played up in Maryborough this morning with Wavemaker, Davemason and a ring in (my father in-law). Struck it pretty solid to hit a 6-over 76 (we only played from the yellows).

Best hole was a 2-putt birdie on 10 :D after hitting driver, 4-wood to the front edge.

Nice course up there. If you get the chance to play it, don't let it pass.

Ryan, chuck all four results in the Maryborough thread to get your money for the money list.

I was very tempted to play with you guys, as I am in Mooloolaba at the moment, which is a bit closer, but it was still just a little too far. :(

went over the border to play....

damn...the torrential rain yesterday evening and last night made the course a swamp...so bad that they had to close the front nine...so we went the back nine twice...

I played the nine first time around in +11...
Stepped up to the tee, and said...36...
finished 38, which wasn't too bad, considering I had lost 2 balls on that nine, and 4 all together...

wow...4 lost balls yesterday, 4 lost balls today...hope this isn't going to be continuing trend into my KK trip... :? :? :?

Played Maryborough on the 27th with Ryan , Tony (Ryan's FIL) and wavemaker, had a 86 gross 66 net 3 under par for my H/cap , But as Ryan said we were of the yellows but were only between 10-20 mts from the mens tees on the short holes and 15-30 mts of the longer holes.

Yes a nice course, both Maryborough GC and Hervey Bay GC that are close together are two top courses in the region, nice price too $11 for reciprocal and $16 as a guest . If any one is up this way and have a round.

Played Carnarvon this morning, with Tony & Trung.

Have to admit while the slice is still there for all to see, today would have been the smartest I have played for quite some time.
I took my medicine regularly and did not attempt the miracle shot. -2 in a par event is my best in that form of game

Good enough for me to play again next week

Played Ballina today...

48(35) + 42(37) = 90 (72) Nett 69

Had 5 straight pars to start the back 9. Followed it up with two doubles, a triple  (brain fart in the sand) & finished with my 6th par for the 9 on 18. VERY VERY happy with 5 over for the 9. Although all five shots were just stupidity on my part.

Played Casino again, single stableford. While i won't mention my score, will say that i played in a group of 7 with some of the club icons, and we had our own game of skins (20c each per hole) - and skin them i did.

Par'd the 4th (par 4) to take the first 3 skins (3rd hole out of play at the moment - spare hole is the 8th) and again par'd 12 to take a bunch. Finished $6 to the better after being unwittingly dragged into this event ;)

Add that to the motza i chalked up on Christmas night playing an Italian form of rummy and this has been a very, very merry Xmas indeed ;)

28/12/04, Mt Coolum GC, Social Round

Pretty happy with how this round went, considering I played the last 15 holes in pain, after rolling my ankle on the 4th tee (baby steps for the last few holes). I really thought the ankle would have a serious effect on my shots, as it restricted my follow-through. :?
It was pretty stupid to keep playing, but I had already paid, and I was hitting it OK. :smt102 Now I will suffer the consequences.

Regardless, I hit it well off the tee, although the 3W is misbehaving, continued my good putting form and showed some improvement with the irons (that is, no duff shots). :D

5/12 effective T-shots.
7/18 effective regulation approaches.
33 putts.
---
9 pars.
7 bogeys.
2 double bogeys.

Score 45-38-83 nett 69 (par 36-36-72 ).

So I played to my handicap and actually enjoyed the game...

cheers

Played Anglesea today.. would never get sick of that place, beautiful. Its a shame we played from forward tees.

Felt like an absolute shocker, but when the maths was done I'd had a decent 83, 10 over. bad news is I had 40 putts  :? :x godamn when you're used to soft and slow greens, its a struggle to get it right on hard and fast surfaces.

good news is that after a few holes I had the driver working a treat. I could get used to a course without eight par 3's pretty damn fast. oh and I beat my bro by a handsome 20 shots :D

also I noticed that playing off the tight fairways, as opposed to thick fluffy stuff, my ball flight was much lower.

31/12/04, Ocean Shores GC, Back Marker Comp

Another solid round. Driving was pretty good with some shockers in there, where I didn't follow through with my crap ankle.
Putting is still going great guns, and I am very happy with this.
Had a bit of bunker trouble, but this came good by the end of the day.

Thinking about a hole strategy before I tee off is helping too, as well as, not going for shots that I am not really capable of.

6/12 effective T-shots.
4/18 effective regulation approaches.
30 putts.
---
1 birdie (3rd hole).
6 pars.
7 bogeys.
1 double bogeys.
3 others.
Score 42-47-89 nett 75 (par 36-36-72 ).

Well, it was an expensive two days for me (26th and 27th).

Sunday (the 26th) wasn't too bad. I scrambled well early on with my short game (whilst I was trying to get my long game settled) for a few up and downs to be even par after five holes. Unfortunately shortly after this, my short game went to pieces whilst my long game improved. Due to this, scoring did not improve any. I finished with 41 out and 40 in for an 81.

Monday (the 27th) was a day I would hope to forget about in the not too distant future. In total I wrecked two clubs (6 iron and putter) and lost two new balls. I could not do anything right or catch a break in any shape or form (except for breaking my bullseye putter over my leg).

The round started to get ugly on the fourth hole when I had to hit off a tree trunk with my 6 iron. I love my blades, so when I checked the club head after the shot to assess the damage only to find it looked like I had dragged it along tarmac, I can't say I was in a really pleasant mood after this.

I went out in 43.

I carried on achieving lip out after lip out on the greens before all my emotions had reached boiling point and I let fly with my bulleyes putter across my leg. I felt marginally better, but my putter had seen better days. The very next hole my HX tour (which I had been using for 1½ holes) got stuck 50ft up in a tree. Not willing to risk anymore broken clubs or lost balls, I decided to walk around for the remaining holes.

I am hoping for some better form next round.

Kind regards,

Ben (Ducky).

Note: These rounds were not in a competition, simply with a competitive brother.

92 - 85 -79 over my 3 games last week...

on the 92 game....Jean got a par on the 7th hole, and beat me and mate in a race to get the first par of the day...

on the 79 game yesterday, Jean beat me and two other mates in a race to get the first birdie of the day...
it was a beaut of a shot...9 iron, landed 6 inches from the cup, hit the flag stick, landed 3 inches front of the cup, and bounced into the hole...

That's the par, they have 2 courses, Tuncurry, which is a monster IMO and Forster. As it was all family playing, we chose Forster.
