So what is the most popular golf shoe/model/style around ?

Taking into account cost versus performance.

Footjoy for comfort by far... have had Nike's, Etonics and Callaways before.

Best thing about FJ's is coming in different fittings (wide/narrow etc) as some other brands don't do this.

I''d never buy another pair of Nike golf shoes ever.

Just remember, you're walking about 8km+ per round, make sure you get the most comfortable you can, that should be your only consideration.

+1 . My nikes lasted 3 months before the toe started to separate from the sole - cheap rubbish.

Have ordered FJ classics from US for $140 US.

Have had a pair of FJ reel fits for a couple of months..... very happy. If you have very wide foot don't bother though. And tape your heels for the 1st few wears.

What are peoples feelings with regard to using a store to find your size and then ordering online.

Just curious, no judgements here, just that it is highly frowned upon in the cycling community.

Am yet to do that, but I would buy FJ's online knowing my size in the FJ's I currently have.

I have gone through a fair few pairs of shoes recently. I currently have 3 pairs of Oakelys. They are pretty good. Bite's are another good shoe, a bit hard to get in Australia nowadays.
In regards to the trying golf shoes at a shop and ordering online. I have meant to do it but every time I go to the shop I end up buying a pair and walk out with shoes.

No dramas....I tried on a pair of Etonics at Amart then bought them on US Ebay and saved myself $50.

I'll vote for Footjoy as well although I'll probably get slammed for it.

Over the years I've had Contours, Dryjoys and reelfits. All great shoes. Never tried the Classics though.

Can't help it if they are the best shoe. Notice Vijay hasn't switched shoes.

I recently got some Adidas Tour 360 as they came up cheap at my club. They're nice shoes, but not as comfy as my Footjoy DryJoy PROs. I actually switched back to my 2y.o. Footjoys on Saturday and walked 18 no probs. The Adidas just don't seem as supportive and they're heavier. In carts it doesn't matter though, they're both fine.

Maybe, just maybe, he believes Footjoy are the best shoes for him. Although I'm sure you'll tell me that he has stuck with Footjoy because he chooses only the best shoes, but is somehow willing to change his ball on a whim.

I'd say footjoy's too.

As to the trying them on then buying online, to me it kind of depends on the store and the assistance I got! A store like amart where I didn't get much if any help say, then it wouldn't really bother me. But when I go to a place where I'm gonna be getting help then I won't do it. I paid well over what I needed to when I got fitted at a specialist store for my runners. But after the first purchase, when you know your size, it's open slather!!

I have a pair of Footjoy AWDs, I bought them before I took golf seriously as I was offered a game at Brisbane golf club and told i could not play in runners.

I got them at a golf store on Old Cleveland rd, that was having a closing sale and picked em up for $90 fantastic shoes. My next pair will probably be Footjoy DryJoys (They look great and feel pretty light too).

The greatest feature, and one I am only truly appreciating now is waterproof shoes, especially in Brisbane's current weather, the courses are like sponges, everywhere you step you leave a small puddle.

My last few pairs have been Etonic's, i have only bought from the local proshop by exchanging vouchers and golf balls, so they were kind of free.

Personally I wouldn't try anything on if I had no intention to buy from that store, I wouldn't like it much if someone did that too me.

Razaar, I have said many times that I find
the advertising campaign interesting, nothing more than that. I have nothing against Vijay or Phil for that matter. It is up to them if they want to chase a few extra $$$$, good on them I reckon for being in that position.

It is all these other people on the site who wantto have a dig at me about Acushnet this and that. I am just enjoying the banter now maybe even doing a little sly sledging. I hope they can laugh at themselves.

Another vote for Footjoys. I have a pretty wide and flat foot but walking around in these all day doesn't cause any problems, super comfortable. I would never look at any other brand in the future.

If you have a long, narrow foot (as I do), then the best fitting shoe would be Adidas. I have 2 pairs of Tour Traxions or some such thing. I found them lighter and more durable than the original Tour 360s.

I have also recently purchased a pair of Nike Air Zoom Elite IIs (the model below the TWs). I have worn them 4 or 5 times so far and have found them to be excellent.

I have a pair for sale. Worn once. XC. Size 44. Black with brown stripe. Nothing wrong with them. Was bought by my father but he didn't realise at the time that he's not size 44.

Interested? If so, we can PM about price.

I've currently got 2 pairs of Adidas tour 360's, got them as they were on runout. Haven't really thought what I'd get next time....

Got probably a dozen pairs of shoes, and FYI, Footjoy Classic Dry Premiers in their fractional fit (i.e C,D, E,EE,EEE) are THINNER than the exact same size in the Classic Tour range..I reckon about 1/2 width thinner..

so my advice if ordering them from the States as Footjoy have announced they are to cease production of them in the US, is:

1. Classic Dry prems..go for 1/2 width WIDER,(or if not available go up 1/2 a size) than you would normally do.

2. Classic Tour.. go for your STD (US) size.

u8er - the Immelda Marcos of golf :-)

I have two pairs of FJ's. One is eComfort which is showing some separating of the sole but not compromised yet...about 6 months old (they are my main shoes). One pair of new Dryjoy pods...unworn.
One pair of Etonic's. Practice shoes. I find my soles are painful after walking a round in them, but no blisters etc. Just feel the spike pads through them...probably cause I'm such a featherweight (NOT).

Footjoy eComforts are the only ones my stupid foot fits into nicely. I have 2 pairs, one of which is 2 years old, but still works well.

I picked up a pair of Oakleys a couple of years ago on sale and love em! Paid just under $200 if I remember correctly. Still happy with them.
