After some researching I have realised that the irod shaft in my hybrid is low torque and the clubs I hit well in my bag are mid to high torque[4.8?].........I'm no shaft or swing specialist but I'm guessing this is the reason why I can't hit this club with any degree of success - does anyone have a recommendation of a mid to high torque hybrid shaft that I could look at as a replacement ? - or am I barking up the wrong tree ?

You can use this shaft selection guide (http://www.golfworks.com/article.asp_Q_ai_E_496) narrow down the list of available shafts to high torque ones. It ain't the be all for fitting and you shouldnt rely on it solely, its just a start to get to a short list, especially if you notice some joker selling cheap shafts on ozgolf.

Select the criteria that fits your game, and in the last drop down box, choose "Slice" for high Torque, "No correction" for medium torque, and no prizes for guessing what "hook" will get you. If the result doesnt find you any shafts, (eg unlikely you will find a shaft that does high + control) then change some of the other factors around and go again.

It seems to be the rule that i have noticed is that 5deg his high torque, 4 medium and 3 and below is low.

Woof.

Love the IRod.

Try the purple ICE shaft. I have used it in my Sonartec and it feels as good.

I too dislike the irod.

Love the JavlynFX in my burner. Also, a Nippon 950 steel shaft in the Adams hybrid is going swimmingly.
