After deciding not to sell the 60s, I felt a little bit of TLC was in order, here's what I ended up with. In honour of Greg Florimo and the boys, a black and red paintfill:

Looks great.

They'll be easy to recognise at Cash Converters, if they go missing.

What sort of paint did you use to fill these clubs scott?

Want to try something on my clubs and was just wondering.

Any technique etc used, or just a bit of stick tape and paint brush?

Why didn't you do the numbers as well ?

Looks good though ..... but if you were really paying homage to the Bears you would've used a gayer colour :p

Or pay homage to the North Sydney fans ...

and by the end of the round, there would only be two left.

Looks good, although red in not my colour.

I use Acrylic paint, just use acetone to get the old fill out then point over with the acrylic of your choice, then dab some acetone on a paper towel and wipe over the top to get rid of the excess outside the area.

Only done it to tidy up a putter once or twice but it looks good.

By the way it costs bugger all, just get the acetone from bunnings (or the supermarket - ie nail polish remover) and the paint from a craft shop for $2 a tube

Spent the long weekend in Salzburg actually. It was brilliant. Schnizel and beer, mountains and castles and all that. Did the clubs last night while I watched tele. ;)

Buy some acrylic or enamel paint from a hobby/hardware shop.
Soak the part of the club you want the paintfill removed from in acetone (from hardware or a pharmacy) for about 30-40 minutes then scrape out with a toothpick.

Clean them in hot soapy water to get any remaining acetone off, then dip a toothpic in the paint and put it in the area to be filled, drop by drop. Much better than a brush.

No need to be careful, it can overflow a bit.

Dip a cuetip (ear cleaner stick etc) in acetone and squeeze the end so it is only damp and run around the adge of the area you've filled and it will clean up a treat.

Some people then put a clear coat on.

If you want more info there is plenty at GolfWRX. Just search "paintfill".

I did the first one with a red number, but it looked shite, so I did the numbers in black.

Man they look great . . . .

Brings back a lot of childhood memories of Dad taking us boys down to North Sydney Oval to watch the Bears go around.

But I go back a bit further than Greg Florimo et al.
I remember George Ambrum, John Gray, Don McKinnon, to name a few.

The Bears were always my second team. Darryl Halligan (till he joined my team), JT, Larson, Florimo, Moore - plus there is no better place in Sydney to watch footy or cricket than North Sydney Oval.

Two of my favourite 12th man calls incolve the Bears

"They've taken Matt Sears off and Soden back on again" and "Marijuana was in two kinds there. I mean Caruana was in two minds..."

Pretty detailed information, you would would have to be a retart to go wrong with that sort of information

No worries mate. Drop me a PM if you have any other questions. The main thing is not to be too quick cleaning up the paint. If it's too wet still you'll bugger it up regardless of how careful you are.

Scott never had a conviction but yes he failed a few drug tests.

I played Schoolboy football with and against Scott in the Souths Junior comps. He is probably the first case of a player who got too much cash early, he was getting paid by Souths in Year 8 at school. He was a freak with the football, was a case of give Scott the ball and see what happens. Playing Halfback inside him at School I can't remember how many tries I scored as a result of his brilliance. We won everything and when he left in Year 10 we had a team that went on to do OK in the Commonwealth Bank Cup.

Was a real shame to see him ruin his career with Drugs, last time I caught up with him he had a paper recycling truck business.

Sorry for the Off topic post.;)

I did this a while back to the bridgey gc mids (the black dots had worn from clanging around in the stand bag over the last months).

No reason behind the colours other than taking the black discs back to silver, and then refilling the letters. It was originally red, but looked crap, so I decided white was the go. It is simply nail polish, and has held up very well.

Nice Henno. Some people break out the lime green and orange, but I reckon simple is better.
