You mean Ozgolf tipping like we did last year?

And yes.

I think that was a good idea

Count me in for a donation, on both comps. Overall is a good idea but needs some guidelines to be formulated, especially if one of your picks gets injured lol.

I'll be in it as usual.

Scottt
26th March 2009, 06:24 PM
Didn't you get the first alternate if one of your picks got injured? It should all be in the threads from last year.

What's this about playing for a lotto ticket?

Eag's
26th March 2009, 07:20 PM
I will be in it again but would rather we go back to all putting in $10.
Lotto tickets are to much stuffing about with scanning etc...
Plus if buy some miracle, someone wins a decent payout, it could get real messy.

Scottt
26th March 2009, 08:15 PM
Yeah, $10 is best. Enough that you can afford to lose it, but the winner still gets a nice payout.

With lotto there's a strong likelihood that no one gets anything!

markTHEblake
26th March 2009, 08:55 PM
Gonna do the lotto ticket thing again?

well i never got the payout from the last one yet.

was $30 if i remember right. was it rolled over?

Johnny Canuck
26th March 2009, 09:16 PM
I say go back to the $10, which can then be quickly spent in the pro shop as I did about 3 minutes after confirming victory.

Injuries should not be a factor as you pick the night before. If your player doesn't get a start, you get the first alternate. Sound good?

Don't let Shaneo play, he is a cheap K unt.

Eag's
26th March 2009, 09:34 PM

Yep, been looking at these posts:

2008 British Open (http://www.ozgolf.net/forums/showpost.php?p=239172&postcount=1)

2008 US Open (http://www.ozgolf.net/forums/showpost.php?p=231002&postcount=1)

2008 US Masters (http://www.ozgolf.net/forums/showpost.php?p=218353&postcount=1)

For the overall Major Series, how does everyone feel about taking best 3 out of 5 picks for each individual Major. (If you manage to have 3 of your 5 picks make the cut in all of the Majors).

Or does anyone have a better/simpler/easier way for this being tabled ?

Am happy to run book for each individual one and overall. (And previous tipster comp posters don't mind their ideas/details being plagiarised ?)

$10 for individual Majors.

$10 for Major Series punt. (Have to nominate before US Masters that you are in for all 4 events)

2009 OZgolf Majors Tipping Competition

Bureaucracy
5 player choices (maximum 2 from current top 10)
Selections need to be posted in this thread by 5.00pm Sydney time on Thursday prior to each Major.
Winner will be decided on greatest accumulation of prize money for the respective Major from the 5 selected players (in the unlikely event that more than one Ozgolfer has the most accumulated prize money at the end of the the prize pool will be shared)
If a player withdraws from the field before tee off on day #1, the 1st emergency will be substituted for all Ozgolf entries with that withdrawn player.
Any player who withdraws from the event after the tournament starts (ie. after day 1 begins) no substitutes are allowed in their place.
Thread Owner is the Adjudicator in any disputes and all decisions are final.
$10 for individual Majors.
$10 for Major Series punt. (Have to nominate before US Masters that you are in for all 4 events).
For the overall Major Series, best 3 out of 5 picks for each individual Major.
If in doubt on any matter, refer to #6 for clarification.:smt108

markTHEblake
27th March 2009, 11:42 PM
Good onya Zigmeister. It's a brave bet, but so is any 250/1 shot regardless of how old they are.

Greg Norman is quite clearly one of very few golfers that does have the potential to win in his 50's due to his physique that very few of his peers have. Whats going to go against him is his window of opportunity is nearly finished. Even the Seniors tour golfers fade away from about 55.

Nobody is going to remember your bet if he doesnt win.

You go around thowing $100 notes at horses, 54yo old golfers and a random draw of seven numbers... What are you then, an investor?

zigwah
27th March 2009, 11:50 PM
i'll let you know how, i picked the in the cup last, it certainll wasn't a punter, i was driving to the tab for my yearly bet on the cup 10 bux and my crazy brother says, that guy looks like bart cummings in that car, and sure enough he did and then i looked at his number plate and it was JB something or other number.

That was goo enough for us we both slapped on a hundred and the rest is history and you know what saw the same bloke walk out of the tab when we were having a pot, and backed shwick and it got up too, crazy stuff. yeah i do it for a living lol

zigwah
27th March 2009, 11:53 PM
who cares if he wins or not, if he doesnt i'm down 100 bux and u will say i told ya so, if he does i got bragging right till we die what would u rather?

zigwah
27th March 2009, 11:54 PM
If ya gonna check on schwick sp? it was at the end of the spring carnival beat the raging fav, we were the only ones on it in the pub.

I don't bet much at all only when i have a feeling and melbourne cup day.

No idea if it will be there but, true, but check out country duke in the shepparton gold cup, harness, i backed him for a hundred and he was going out in the odds till the race started.
