Played Calderwood this morning with my work Social club. The improvement is still coming along nicely with my iron play especially. I was flushing my irons, won 2 NTP's. One lowlight was my poor putting, 38 putts, 6x 3 putts . No more hooks with the Driver too. Burglar mate won with 46 points. NO WIPES! :)

Stats
38 points (16 H'cap)
85 Gross
7/12 Fwy's
8 GIR
38 Putts
2/8 Up & Downs
0/1 Sand Saves
5 Pars

Next game; somewhere/sometime.

It seems from your updates, Grunt, that putting has been an obvious weakness of late. Are you leaving the long putts too far from the hole? missing short ones? a bit of both?

Seems that has been letting down some good ballstriking for you.

Is it just a hangover of not playing much in school hols? Or is there something larger behind it?

A big days golf today with MattM, the Titleist flag buying Victorian, who is over is sunny Perth.

Firstly, let me say, amazing weather. Mild, sunny and hardly any wind all day.

First round was 18 holes at The Cut. I played pretty well for 30 points. Too bad ANY bad tee shot is dead and the hole is practically a wipe from that point on.

The Cut is a decent track, but still overrated in my opinion. Seaside holes are nice, the setting is beautiful, and even the housing estate holes aren't that bad (when you discuss them with an archi buff like MattM), but it is not the best layout in Perth.

Second round was at Kennedy Bay. We thought the afternoon would be a windy affair, but the Golf Gods had other plans.

I had the best round on KB I have ever had. 82 off the bat for 40 points off the blue tees.

12 Fairways
12 GIR (Holy crap, I just counted those, that is a PB, should have made a few more birdies)

1 wipe on 17
Only 1 birdie

Was inches away from 3 or 4 birdie putts dropping in. So close.

All social golf, no comps on today. Now to play that way in the medal this Saturday.....

Cheers. The Cut was nothing special but not too bad considering I didn't score on at least 5 holes.

Well today is the highlight of my golfing calendar - the day I look forward to the most. Playing pennant at The National. I just love that course - even though it has bitten me badly quite a few times.
Perfect weather. Gentle light breeze and mild.
We played the top team who bought down a few Division 1 players this week to play us. They were the top team. We beat them 4/3:smt038

I was 2 up at the turn - mainly due to her playing poorly and I knew she would come back - and she did. I lost 2 balls on the 1st :smt093 ( played the back nine first) then overhit the 3rd par 3 - game squared. We went hole for hole to be all square again after the 16th. I won the 17th with a monster putt - so good - took me a while to get my breath back - then dormy going into the 18th. I said to my caddie - I'm not happy with a square - I'm winning this hole. Par 3 - uphill - 148mtrs - bunkers everywhere - so I though I'll play safe to Granny's corner - miss hit it over the front bunkers - big uphill chip - close enough for her to give me the putt - game over.

Our number 1,2and 3 all won and our number 7 who is off 23 who played a girl off 15. She won 5/4! Top effort.:smt038:smt038:smt038:smt038 We are currently 3rd but we play the top team ( The National) the last week. Fingers crossed.

Isn't that just a kick in the teeth for the OZgolf Champs.

Well done on yet another pennant win, FG.

Nice one FG. Which course at The National?

The Ocean course. They always put us out there. Would like to play The Moonah course.

And AP - the social side of the Ozgolf Champs is my social calendar highlight for the year. I always play crap golf at the champs!!!

I played at Cairns GC this morning in an individual stab and also refereed the match between Cookie & Solarman... *yawn*. More details in the NQ Matchplay thread...

I couldn't find my swing all day and was pleasantly surprised to see that I made 30 pts at the end of it all. It felt heaps worse than that. I reckon I only middled about 2 shots all day.

85 gross
30 pts

5 fairways
5 greens (generally not the same holes as the FIRs )
32 putts

1 birdie
6 pars
8 bogies
3 doubles

I played well today for 38 points, but the course was 10 to 27 (the third nine is our easy nine), the greens were soft after recent coring and there was no breeze, so conditions for golf don't get much easier. I'll be lucky to beat the CCR.

Fairways = technically 10 of 14, but the 4 misses were within a metre, and all 'effective'
Greens in reg = 7 of 18
Putts = 32, zero 3putts
Up&Down = 2 of 7, which includes a chipin
Sand Saves = 1 of 4

Today was a 4BBB Stroke event.

I hit 6 over on the front nine and 4 over on the back.

We had a 65
I had a 10 over off the stick which is 2 under my H/cap.
I was on the card 14 times.

I was sinking putts from every where, today I put on a show.

25 putts.
Short Game was good, it had to be with the wind today.
Driving was only 6 FIR.
and only 6 GIR

So I had to chip well.

What sport were you playing?

You haven't heard of StintClip?

It originated in Norway, kind of a cross between, lacrosse, tennis, synchronised swimming and the decathalon.

I thought Perth had a team in the national league?

Even in a modified stableford today. +6 on the first 9 and -6 the second lol. Played quite crap and would have shot about 85, with 30 putts. Highlight was driver approach wedge to 55cm on 18 to take the pinshot. It's good when i feel i played woeful and still shoot 85 with a ball O.B and various sloppy shots.

Ambulance charity 4 ball ambrose today. For once we were the burglars, the mate off 19, me off 12 and a former 9 and 6 (BIG hitters) both off 18 as their handicaps lapsed last year. Neither have barely been playing.

Played off the social tee's, we had 13 birdies for a net of 50.5. Incredibly we only won by .766 as the runners up had 51.266. Three in the 54's. A great days golf with the ex 6 playing brilliantly. Highlight for me was a ripper to 18 inches from 135m, with the pitch mark being 5 inches right in front of the center of the cup. I aced this hole two years back and must have been oh so close.

How do they score 51.26666 in a 4 man ambrose? The fractions don't compute.

Never thought about it, but that was absolutely the number on the board. The boss did say pre round they'd stuff the scores up
