This is an article from the Golfworks.com website, it is about Blade heads, but the concept applies to all Irons. Henno and I briefly chatted about this in another thread, I wanted to show this image earlier but I coudnt find the article.

It is pointing out that the traditional design of iron heads is somewhat flawed, which has resulted in the CG not being in the centre of the club, but rather towards they heel. Thats why we had the old myth that good golfers hit the ball slightly towards the heel.

Ping and now Callaway have long realised this and are building their clubs with short hosels and longer face lengths, resulting in clubs that are much easier to hit. That is why they are the best selling clubs of all time.

TM fans should note that their irons still have a CG that is significantly towards the heel, a higher CG, but they do have high MOI, which is a positive.(Draw irons in particular)

It would be wise to study this stuff before making your next iron purchase, why make the game harder than it needs to be! Or if you cant be stuffed, just buy Ping's.

I knew I was cheating with my FT's.

Massive score on the MPF, but a small club head. Obviously the blue model above.

great work Blakey. just when i think there can't be any more improvement in clubs & all the topics have been exhausted, something like this comes out.

with having lines on my ball, i notice that my iron bad-hits seem to be predominantly towards the toe (partial line from ball sometimes left on clubface after striking). interesting to see from the article that in the amateur stakes, i'm not alone. now if i could only stop that happening.
