You've just said you aren't buying clubs next year. Now you are thinking 6 months. :smt011

Fishy, add a 9.5° hybrid to your poll. They are bound to come out sooner or later.

no new driver for me in the forseable future.

I've made a conscious decision to hold off on all ho-ing and concentrate and having some quality lessons and get the swing happening ... i feel this would be money better spent 8)

sorry to piss on your poll Fishy :P

I can't believe that people actually voted for the ping g2. Don't you know that everytime jarro says the name ping he follows it with a vicious spit (as in 'I spit on your name')

In fact he dosen't even have to say the name. One time when discussing what were the best clubs I mentioned the name and if hocked one right in my face :D

geez Goughy, you sure know how to spin a good yarn :P

contrary to popular belief, i DON'T hate the Ping G2 driver at all .... i hit the same demo Nudgee used for a round once and it felt pretty good .. although it had a terrible whippy stock reg shaft in it :x

the only thing i didn't like about it was it's size ... just too big. Looks heaps bigger than the R580XD TP i also hit that day ... although i know they are almost the same size.

That makes 2 of us. My brother hit it last week in Denver and said that it is LONG but spinny, at least for him. He suggested that it is mega long in the air........even for Denver......

He hit it with a Grafalloy NT Proto, which he currently hits in the TM 425.......I'm thinking it sounds perfect for a Speeder 757.......

Speirsy,

If it's spinny then you need an Altus in it. I'm keen to try with VS Proto.

BTW... what did your brother say about the feel and sound of the Rapture?

I don't see how it's ironic, considering the thread was started as a piss-take anyway.

The J33 went fantastic last night. Had about 10 swings with it and they all felt pretty damn good, the ball seemed to go far enough, and dead straight. I've got to say that i'm a huge fan of the NVS shaft. The 55-R in the FT-3 i demo'd was the catalyst, but this 65-R felt great in the J33.

I guess i've got a fairly interesting history;

2004 I bought the TaylorMade 300Ti for $130. It's still the main backup but has had a shaft change after the original broke. Even last week my mishits were going straighter and further than the 580XD.
I had an SMT Spetrum a couple of years ago (end of 2004) in a deal from Macca that was primarily to get a replacement shaft for my 300Ti, but that was short lived as I settled with the TM driver. I forget what i paid or sold it for, but it was about the same. Didn't mind that at all - i think Mike's still using it today.
I tried the 580XD since i picked it up cheap from Speirsy, and a shaft from Jono for nix. Took some time to realise, but there was no love and i was glad to pass it onto someone else in the OzGolf fraternity.
I demo'd an FT-3 from my the Gordon Pro Shop. I'd think about buying one if it was half the price.
I demo'd Virgal's 905T on a 2 week basis but returned it after a single use (first week was washed out). That cost me a sleeve of U-Tri Tour's out of appreciation.

This J33R total cost was $180 and is the most i've spent on a driver, and i've got to say it's in absolutely mint condition. I don't think Jarro ever used it... unless he had numerous airy's before giving it up ;)

So by my calculations, that's 4 drivers owned and hopefully this will stay a while.

Gee ... your definition of "dead straight" must be a bit different to mine ...

You were hitting it pretty well ... I'll give you that. StraightISH ... with an odd pull and an odd slice here and there. Your swing seems to have improved significantly since I last played with you. Dare I say, it even looks somewhat powerful ...
