Stableford today. An uneventful 35 points. Played better - played worse!!!!! Putting was woeful on the front nine but settled down on the back nine.

Gee - isn't this a great game report:shock:

Off to Tasmania tomorrow. Barnbougle here we come!!!!!!

Yeah, very jealous on the Barny front. Take pics and share.....

Played Scroungers with Johnnie Canuck today in the worst weather for months. Drizzle and a minimum 2-3 club breeze all day.

A frustrating day. Poor start, and when the game improved I burnt the hole ALL day. Chips/putts.... nothing wanted to drop. Also frustrating that I lost skins to JC depsite whipping him in stableford points.

31 points (13/18 )

Another 9 or 10 fairways today, the TMTB HMOI is an absolute beast.

Aldo actually swung hard enough to make some sound through the air with his driver. I was impressed. He has a lot of power hiding inside that body. He just needs to release it!!!

adlo

Like I said Johnny, it is lucky to be a big bastard and still hit decent length with minimal effort. Unleash some power when I am flushing it (like today) 8)

Maybe one day I'll put full effort into my swing too!

One of favourite days ever - playing Barnbougle with my old man last year. Enjoy the golf (and the wallaby pie served up at the local pub - highly recommended!)

I know this fell a day before the "week" started, but I can't be arsed finding the old thread

21/2 - Royal Cinque Ports
Turned +4, was +5 on the 16th tee and finished bogey, triple, double. Perhaps the most frustrating round of golf I have played.
13/15 fairways
9 greens
2/9 U&Ds (inc. one sand save)
34 putts (inc. two three-putt bogeys!)

22/2 Prince's
Again turned +4, was over a 25-footer for birdie on the 13th to go back to +4 and shot +11 again.
11/14 fairways
8 greens
3/10 U&Ds
36 putts (inc. two three-putt bogeys)

Absolutely minted it off the tee all weekend, flushed my irons, didn't mis a putt inside five feet, but still shoot a pair of +11s. Life is not fair!!

My long putting was poor on the occasions I left myself 50-60 feet, and I had a few brain farts (two triples and four doubles for the weekend - so I played 30 holes in +6 and six holes in +14!).

Still great fun though.

It sounds to me like you have some bad karma.... something to do with the 16th.... have you been slagging anyone off.... something to do with the 16th hole and a golf cart?!?

Oh well, at least you are hitting them well. The good scores will follow.

Your new course looks amazing btw.

i played on a course(Belmont) Sunday where they let you play, whatever the weather, frost or no frost. so stupid us, show up at 7:30 and have at 'er. shot a 93 on a frozen wonderland. it's quite the thing to hit a perfect approach shot, hit mid green, watch it bounce 30 feet into the air, land on the frozen pond behind the hole, and bounce into the fairway on another hole. that's winter golf! Here's the first hole, 350 yards long, 100ft above the hole.

Took an RDO to play at Sea Temple today. BrettM was kind enough to tuck all the pins in corners for us and make the course play as long as possible.

I had a lazy 30 pts with only one wipe. I'll do the rest of the stats later, but it was nothing special.

Edit: Stats are in

84 gross
30 points

9 fairways (I think, seems a bit high but I'm struggling to remember a couple of holes)
6 greens
35 putts (a couple of 3 putts from a long way away, the greens are frikkin huge!)

7 pars
9 bogies
2 doubles

First round since Wynnum Cup. Played Woodford and finished with a lazy 39 points after washing the 10th (our first) 82/69. 32 putts. 7 fairways, 5 GIR. 10 pars, 6 bogeys, 2 doubles.

Out at Seaview today with couldavebeenpro. I have never played there before. It is all of 30m from Cottesloe beach. A challenging 9 hole layout. The smallest greens I have ever seen, by a country mile.

32 points (14/18 ), a bit easier the second time around.
10 Fairways
3 GIR  (like I said, small greens)

Was beautiful weather and good to meet another ozgolfer.

28/02/09, RAAF Tindal GC, 2-man ambrose

Also my first round since the Wynnum Cup, so I was definitely a bit rusty. The comp was going to be par, but they changed it just before the start to improve the speed of play (long grass ball-hunting).

I really smashed some drives today, and particularly enjoyed hitting driver off the deck on a par 5 after my partner had already put us in a good position. There were some pretty dodgy iron shots, but there was also some good ones too. I got NTP on the 5/14th, then watched my good putt bounce over the centre of the hole. Chipping sucked, and the putting was a mixed bag, as you'd expect on those greens.

As individuals, we struggled on the front nine, but scored well with 2 birds, 2 boges and some great putts. The back nine our individual games got it together a bit more, but we just couldn't score and screwed it with two finishing bogeys. Our score was 35-38-73 nett 64.75 (Par 70) which had us finishing second behind a 3-man team :-s.

Next round: If it ever stops raining in the afternoons, I'll try to play Katherine CGC midweek. Otherwise it's either a 9 hole 4-man ambrose at Tindal again, or a weekend in Darwin.

Marked a great card today- Mark Draper (Scott's older brother) had 46 s'ford points off a 1 h'cap; shot a 63 (9 under) equals the course record for the Old Course at Keperra. It was a treat to watch. He was trialing the new Nike One Tour D compliments of Scott. This ball is long for all you ho's and is a serious threat to the ProV1 & X.

32 pts with Cookie, Haysey & another mate who will be joining soon (if not already).

I'm disappointed with myself for not bringing some game in the matchplay against Cookie, but unfortunately it was one of those days where my hands felt like lumps of timber. I had no clue with any of the feel shots and it really shows in the putting stats (I missed lots of greens but still had lots of putts as I couldn't chip close enough).

83 gross
32 stableford points

9 fairways
5 greens
33 putts

6 pars
10 bogies

1st two rounds of club champs in the books.

Day one, 7 over after 10. Grabbed a boubon and switched from a ProV1X to a ZUR-S and played even to finish for a 79. One shot off the pace.

Day two, started with a ZUR-S, learned my lesson. Played solid Canuck golf. One double, 5 bogies, 3 birdies and an eagle for a 74. Leader by 3.

On the weekend I am 9 over 100% sober and one under with bourbon in the system. Grabbed one on 17 today and eagled it for the first time in 2 years.

Should do some good damage to the handicap as the course rates 76 off the blacks.

Course played pretty similar both days but very strange how I hit 11 5-woods off the tee day one, with success, but only 3 on day two. I declare that I am 100% a feel player and don't make decisions until I stand on the tee.

Looking forward to next weekend. Hopefully Aldo can make it out on Wednesday so that I can shoot 85 off the short tees.

Played The Addington today (www.addingtongolf.com) - rated #85 in Great Britain and Ireland.

An absolutely amazing course. If courses were ranked only on their 12 best holes, I have no doubt this would be top 50 in the world.

And if I were scored only on my best 12 holes, I'd be playing off scratch

I shot 79, which was +10 to par and eight over the SSS (their version of course rating). The members said what I shot equated to 37 stableford points.

8/12 fairways
10 greens
36 putts
1/8 u&d

Started my day by hitting a six iron to three feet then made the putt for birdie!

Still let myself down with blowouts - three double bogeys!

Bugger! Got me by one. Geez those greens are good though (shame about the plug marks though).

And now to the big one (I need to brag)...

Played in the Thurgoona Bowl as well on the weekend. Shot a 76 on Saturday afternoon, in pretty windy conditions to be 3 behind. Extracted a digit on Sunday morning and shot 68 (including an OOB on the 3rd) to finish even par and force a playoff (almost 5 hours after we finished our round).

It was a 3 hole playoff on holes 16, 17 & 18 and sms went par, bogey, par to my opponent's bogey, par, par. Sudden death then took place back at 16, where a par was good enough to win the event.

A victory for rotund left-handers.

Congrats SMS! Nice win.

Greens at Albury are nice, but a bit soft. That, with all the social play at this time of year, is making them mark up a little. But they still roll pretty well, don't they?

How was Thurgoona's condition on the weekend?

I was spinning the ball back 10-15 feet with regularity at Albury, which is something I haven't done for ages.

One hopes that it is social players causing the pitch marks.

The Goon was pretty good. They have converted the fairways to couch, and they are really good (with the exception of the 13th hole, which looks like a swamp). Greens were about a foot slower than Albury, but ran really well. Absolutely no rough to speak of, which makes a couple of tee shots potentially dangerous (7th comes to mind - anything right of centre runs very close tlo the hazard as there is just nothing to stop it, and anything right on the 3rd will run OOB ).
