Dale Shearer Fighting For Life
FORMER Queensland State of Origin star Dale Shearer, 43, is fighting for his life after a high-speed car crash.

Shearer's Porsche failed to take the roundabout on the Sunshine Motorway at Peregian Springs on Queensland's Sunshine Coast about 11pm and crashed into a culvert.

He was airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital with ``life-threatening'' injuries, according to police.

He remains in a critical condition.

The incident comes one year after Shearer's wife Delyse died of cancer aged 39. Shearer has two teenage sons.

The former Manly star played 20 Tests for Australia.

He played 26 Origin matches for Queensland between 1985 and 1996, scoring a record 12 tries for the Maroons.

He is currently involved with the Coolum Colts Rugby League Club on the Sunshine Coast.

Not good :(

Did anyone else find it strange that the police "spotted" his car earlier in the night but "lost" it, only to come across the wreckage afterwards?

Might be nothing in it, but it certainly made my ears prick up.

There was actually some sort of pole involved as well apparently; he hit it head-on and flipped. He went straight on at the roundabout at Perigian Springs on the Sunshine Motorway. (Most QLDers who frequent the sunny coast will know this spot.)

That is what happened according to the police yes. He saw them and he took off. By the time the police did a uturn he was out of sight. Look at the car its a mess and police are saying there was no pursuit which i beleive. But they are also estimating a speed of up to 160 klms an hour.

is that the huge mother of a roundabout with lanes going everywhere?

i got messed up on that big time, the road splits in half and i thought the left lane was off for a left turn bypassing the roundabout, so i went right and then ended up going around the wrong way. it was early morning and a few red wines the night before is my excuse.
